“Are you okay?” I asked. “You’re quiet.”
He took a deep breath. And brushed his hair with both hands.“We were not careful, Nina. Not that I regretted what we did.”
“I’m on the pill. Have been for a long time, for other reasons than birth control.”
Concerned, he said, “Is everything okay?”
“Yes. I have irregular periods. But if I weren’t on the pill, would you want to have children?”
“No. Children would not enhance or decrease my love for you. I love you always. You are enough for me.” His warm, heavy hands rested on my cheeks. I turned my face and kissed the palm of his hand. “You want to have children?” he asked.
“No, I feel the same way you do,” I said.
“What about your parents? Especially your mother. She might want something that’s ours.”
“She’s not into children, believe it or not. She loves me and my brother, don’t get me wrong, but according to her, we were both ‘oops’ babies.” I laughed quietly. “My parents want to travel and not take care of children anymore. But circumstances are different now. How about your parents?”
“I think they wouldn’t have a problem with our decision. Colin would make that dream come true.”
We both laughed, and Gareth’s fingertip circled my belly button. Then he continued, “You are the first woman I have been intimate with.”
I looked at him with a really look. “Virgin by default? What? But—”
“Shh. Tonight, I shared the most intimate moment with you. This right now is as intimate as I can be, only with you.”
“I don’t think Paul would be too happy?” I teased.
“Who’s Paul?” he asked sarcastically.
We remained silent for a moment. Gareth stared at the ceiling. “When will I meet your parents?” I asked.
“I’ll make arrangements.”
I toyed with his hands. “What made you fall in love with me?”
“Coca-Cola on the rocks.”
I laid flat on the floor with my hands on my face, trying not wake the others. “I’m not a drinker.”
“Your choice of drink confirmed you were the one for me. I’ll admit that was a good one. First time I ever heard that.”
He kissed my cheek, and his fingertip rubbed my nipple. Gareth stood from the floor and picked up his pants. I loved seeing his member between his legs as he bent to pick up his boxers next. I could still see remnants of me on his shaft.
“Where are you going?”
“You want me to leave unscathed, do you? Casualties can happen. You were lucky not to yell my name,” he teased. “I want to hear that scream again, only louder, when we get back home.”
He knelt and kissed me fervently. It was carnal, desperate and possessive. I loved it when he claimed my mouth. Honestly, I was willing to go another round with Gareth, but I had to content myself with what happened moments ago.
I couldn’t wait to get back home.
Chapter 7
Gareth’s proclamation last night made me grin from ear to ear while I made breakfast in the skillet from yesterday’s leftovers.
“Good morning.” Gareth grasped my waist from behind me and bit my ear gently. Then he rubbed my belly and eased his hands up to my breasts. “It’s too risky to take you now, unfortunately,” he mumbled his voice still deep and rusty from sleep.
“You are doing it anyway.” I closed my eyes as if in a trance, resting the back of my head against his shoulder.
