“I d-didn’t mean to… please have mercy…”

“Silence!” Seven spits in her tear-stained face. “There is no mercy in this world.”

Weeping and begging for her life, Blackwood Institute’s prestigious warden dies a pitiful death. Seven kicks her in the face so he can straddle her dying corpse. Her fighting is futile. His wrath is inescapable.

“Jude…”

“Goodbye, Elizabeth. I’ll see you in hell someday.”

Leaning in close to press their foreheads together, Seven drinks in her fear while wrapping a single hand around her throat. One is all this animalistic man needs.

“We should stop him,” Kade comments.

“No.” I shake my head. “I think he needs this.”

Seven slowly, intimately chokes the life out of Elizabeth White. By the time he’s done, she’s blue and twitching, her legs jerking a final few times. When he lets go, Seven’s trembling from exertion. Her throat looks collapsed from the force of his grip.

None of us dare approach. He looks ready to tear us all to shreds. Staring at his single, bloodied hand, the stump on his other arm hangs limp. I don’t stop Brooklyn from carefully approaching, trusting her judgement when it comes to this… creature.

“Sev?”

“Stay back,” he roars.

She ghosts a hand over his shoulder. “I’m here, Sev. You can come back now. The job’s done. It’s time to go.”

“Eight?”

“Yeah, it’s me. We’re a team, aren’t we?”

Managing to look up, the look on Seven’s face scares even me. It’s raw and brutal, far beyond anything that could be classified as human. He’s a predator and a hunter wrapped up in a lethal tornado of rage. My instincts are telling me to keep Brooklyn as far away from him as possible.

“I’m sorry, princess,” he apologises.

“What for?”

The pair exchange a long, hard look.

“I should’ve given you a go on the bitch. We kill together, not apart.”

Brooklyn grins. “I’ll let you off on this occasion.”

I can’t suppress my laughter. Everyone looks at me like I’m mad. We’re surrounded by bodies, now is not the moment to lose it. Grabbing the pair of maniacs, we take one final glance at the bloody scene.

There are no CCTV cameras in a shitty place like this, but it wouldn’t matter either way. We’re already being hunted. Now, we’ve fired our first shot. Let the war commence.

“What now? We can’t go back to the warehouse.” Brooklyn leans on Seven, wiping blood from her nose. “We need somewhere to clean up and lay low.”

Phoenix steps forward with a nervous smile.

“I have an idea.”

CHAPTER 12

BROOKLYN

LUST - SAINT JHN & JANELLE KROLL

Stealing through the dimly lit suburbs of London, I stare at the back of Phoenix’s head. It’s taken us all night to sneak across the city, dodging CCTV cameras, screaming sirens, and even a police helicopter. We couldn’t exactly hop on the underground.
