“Three minutes closer,” I remind him.

“Good point.”

The drive back to Red Oak goes by in a blur. I’m sure he’s breaking quite a few speeding laws, but I don’t comment on it because I’m right there with him. Through the speakers, we’re singing to 90’s country songs, holding hands, and munching on our snacks we picked up at Target.

Did I mention this is the best date ever?

And it’s just getting started.

ChapterEighteen

Naomi

We stumble into my house, pawing at each other and tossing our bags on the floor, toeing off our shoes, and ripping at each other’s clothes. Our shirts are torn off and I take off running, knowing he’ll follow me to my bedroom.

“Sleeping on the couch tonight?” I tease.

“Not planning on sleeping,” comes his growled response and my core clenches tightly.

“Always with the good answers,” I reply with a crook of my finger.

I’ve seen Brock without a shirt on dozens of times. From when we were babies until adults but seeing him without a shirt on in my bedroom is an entirely different kind of thrill that I wasn’t expecting.

He’s bigger.

More defined.

A six pack and biceps and strong shoulders and traps that have my mouth watering.

But that’s not what has me ready to strip completely naked.

It’s the way he’s looking at me.

With hunger and desire in his eyes.

“I’m going to embarrass myself,” he mutters. “I’ve wanted you for too many years and just looking at you has me hard.”

“Come here, Brock,” I demand since he didn’t listen to my finger crook earlier.

“I’m not sure I can. If I touch you, I won’t be able to stop.”

“Kind of the point here, honey.”

With speed I didn’t know was possible, he rushes at me, lifting me up by my butt and carrying me to the bed, following me down so his body is draped over the top of mine.

“I like it when you call me honey,” he says in a gruff voice.

“Terms of endearment.” I smile.

“Yeah.”

I have a brief moment of panic, knowing that this is about to change everything. Dating, flirting, kissing… that’s one thing. Sex is a whole other ball game. And I haven’t had sex in seventeen months. Almost one and a half years without an orgasm from another person.

And there’s something Brock needs to know before we get started.

I break our kiss and look up at him. “I was tested. After I found out about Wyatt cheating on me and everything? I made sure to get tested and I’m clean. But I’m still not on the pill. Or any kind of birth control. After going through so many treatments, I just…” I end with a shrug and he gives me a soft look.

“I get it.”
