“I’ve seen snow before.”
Nick shook his head. “Not like this. It’s special where my Mamie lives.”
Mulberry laughed. “Okay, I need to see your special snow””
Nick grinned, and she admired how the muscles in his leg rippled as he dried himself. “Breakfast?
“Yes, I need food.”
“I like you hungry.” His lips met hers, kissing her with so much authority her toes curled.
He laced his fingers through hers, walking her into the bedroom.
“I’ll order breakfast”” Nick picked up the menu from the dresser.
“Good, I can’t be filled up by you all the time.” Mulberry giggled.
Nick raised an eyebrow and strode towards her.
“Yes, you can.”
He kissed her wolfishly, the heat of his body warming her as his chest pressed against hers. A knock on the door caused him to break the kiss.
“That’s fast breakfast.”
“Yeah, super fast. This place is nice, but they interrupt you so often.” Nick grumbled. He strolled to the door, pulling it open.
“Do you need more towels?” “No, but we are waiting on breakfast.” Mulberry giggled.
“Okay, it’ll be up in a few moments.”
“Actually, I’ll take those towels.”
Mulberry heard the click of the door.
“What’s so funny?” His tone was growly, but his lips twitched.
“You. This,” Mulberry gestured around her. “Everything.”
Nick sat beside her, taking her hand in his. “Guess it is.”
Half an hour later, they were set up in the little dining nook, with a full breakfast before them and piping hot coffee.
“Let me know you the special snow from last year.” Nick grabbed his phone and showed her pictures of a sprawling hill with white snow covering it.
“This is my Mamie’s property.”
“This is where you want to open the dog rescue?”
“Yeah, though that is only a dream.”
“Did you always want the dog rescue?”
“Not always. My love of dogs grew out of rebellion. My parents said no every year.”
Mulberry pushed away her plate. “What did you want to do when asked what you wanted to be?”
Nick sipped orange juice and stacked his empty plate on top of hers. “I’ve always been good with technology. I love writing software. So the thing I’ve wanted to do is the one I’ve run from.”
