His mention of the studio reminds me even if they’re not living here I’m not going to be able to escape these guys.
“Something smells good,” a new deep male voice enters the room.
I look over my shoulder and—oh my God what is in the water where these guys came from? The guy is tall with blond hair and built like a football player. Wide shoulders, narrow hips, and abs fordays. I know because he wears a pair of loose sweatpants hanging low on his hips.Toolow. His arms and torso are covered with dark tattoos.
“Like what you see?” he asks, making a kissy face at me.
I turn red—which with my red hair makes me look like a damn lobster.
“Shut up,” Fox tells him.
I hear a scuffle behind me but I don’t dare look.
I finish the next omelet and give it to the new guy who has joined Fox at the bar counter. His eyes linger on me appreciatively—well, they mostly linger on my breasts.
“My eyes are up here, bud.”
“You have nice tits.”
“Oh my God.” I throw my hands in the air.
Fox knocks the guy on the back of the head. “Shut it, Rush. That’s Hayes’s daughter. You can’t look at her like that unless you want to die.”
I have to suppress the urge to snort. Unfortunately, he’s not wrong. These are exactly the kinds of guys my dad wouldn’t want me to end up with. Not necessarily because they’re in a band—God knows my dad and his band mates are obsessed with their wives and would never cheat—but because they’re cocky and arrogant.
The new guy,Rush, grumbles something under his breath sounding a lot like, “I’ll look all I want.”
I move on to the next omelet for Hollis.
I’m tempted to spit in it but I’m not that mean.
When it’s finished, he still hasn’t joined us. I place a cover over it and leave it on the counter so Fox or Rush can’t eat it if they decide they want seconds.
I heat up my own breakfast and sit down at the table.
“We don’t bite,” Fox says, chewing his last bite. “I mean, we might be a bit uncivilized at times but we won’t bother you.”
“I’m fine over here,” I reply.
To my dismay Rush grabs his plate and joins me. Fox does the same after cleaning his plate in the sink.
“We might as well get to know each other.” Rush winks. “I figure if you’re Hayes’s daughter we’ll be seeing you a lot.”
“You have no idea,” I mutter.
“Why’s that?” Fox asks.
I clear my throat. “I intern at the studio when I’m not at school or working.”
“You work? But like … your family is rich,” Rush stutters.
“My mom and dad don’t want any of us to use our money as an excuse to be lazy. We’re expected to work when we can.”
“Don’t you get recognized? I mean, your dad’ssuperfamous.” Fox seems just as stunned as Rush over this news.
I shake my head. “Everyone in this town knows who we all are anyway. They’re used to it by now. They’re not even fazed by Maddox, Mathias, Ezra, or my dad. Perks of a small town I guess,” I say with a shrug. “I think that’s why all the guys chose to continue living here full time as much as they could. It’s … peaceful,” I finally decide. “Whenever we travel for whatever reason chaos ensues.”
“Was it weird for you growing up?” Rush asks around a mouthful of food.
