“Yeah. Hopefully, my dad will give us his support.”

“We have my mom’s support.”

“That’s because Tina’s the best.”

I smiled at the admiration in his voice. “I’m glad you think so.”

“Are you hungry?”

“Yes, but I don’t want to leave here.”

“We don’t need to go anywhere.” He rolled onto his back and took me with him. I nuzzled the side of my face on his chest. “I can have a prospect bring us food.”

“Really? That would be lovely.”

“Anything you want, Bonita.” He kissed my head.

“Can we just stay here until tomorrow? I’m exhausted.” And emotionally drained after the past eighteen hours.

“Are you feeling all right? I can call the club’s doctor to examine you and check on the baby.”

“I’m sure I’m fine. Nothing a little rest won’t cure.”

“Then rest you’ll get. You and the baby are my priorities.” His embrace tightened.

All was right in my world. “So we’re okay, right?”

“Bonita, I should be asking you that.”

“My heart and soul will always belong to you.”

“Same, baby.” He lifted my chin and dropped a kiss on my lips. “Same. Nothing and no one will ever tear us apart.”

I prayed he was right because my gut told me Dorian had every intention of ripping me away from Joseph the first chance he got.

But I didn’t want to worry about the deranged man I once thought of as family.

Joseph was my family. He’d keep the baby and me safe.

Or he’d die trying.

“Hi, pretty girl.” Sugar poked her head into my bedroom. “I brought you supper. Tater tot hotdish. Come on out and eat with Maddox.”

“Okay.” I set my book down and went out to the front room.

Maddox was on the sofa shoveling, heaping spoons of the hotdish into his mouth and tearing off bites of bread with his teeth. He reminded me of the wild wolves in the book I was reading. They were shifters, part human, part wolf. Maybe Maddox was a shifter too.

“Your plate is beside Maddox.” Sugar sat in the chair across from us. “How’s it going around here? I heard Track came by. I bet you’re happy your brother is home.”

I covered my mouth with my hand while I chewed and nodded. I wasn’t an animal, like the biker next to me eating like it was the last meal he’d ever have.

“Is Maddox treating you well?” she asked.

He stopped eating and turned toward me with a curious expression.
