I brush a hand through her hair again. “I love you more, Dana.”
“Hey, that’s not fair.”
I laugh. “It’s the truth.”
“Then make it official with me.”
She lifts her head again, tilting it at me. “How?”
“Mate with me.”
“I think we already do that daily.” she drawls.
I part from her before scooping her up into my arms in order to carry her the rest of the way. Something that I’ve gotten into the habit of over these last few days.
“It’s a ceremony.” I tuck my hand under her to keep her upright. “One that bonds us together as a couple for the rest of our lives.”
She runs a hand over my chest until she hooks her arm around my neck. “Who goes?”
I shrug. “Anyone we want. I can have Old Malik officiate.”
Dana’s mouth drops open. “Really? Would he do that?”
“Of course. He used to be a Chieftain, so I’m sure he’s done plenty throughout his lifetime.”
She practically grins ear to ear. “I would love that, Pitha. I want to be bonded to you. No matter what happens in the future, I want our souls to be connected back to each other.”
Gods, this woman… she amazes me more and more with each day passing. If she thought my words were touching, then she has certainly blown me away with hers.
“I’ll ask Malik first thing in the morning, how does that sound?”
She kisses my cheek. “Wonderful.”

Dana
Iwake with butterflies in my stomach.
The morning of my mating ceremony is finally here, and I’m all too eager to roll out of bed and get going. Pithat pulls me closer, his large arms coming around to wrap me in a tight hold as his chest deflates with a deep exhale.
It has me smiling and running my hands over his wide chest.
I can’t believe I’m actually mating with him today.
In the back of my mind, there is a part of me that never thought I could be this happy. Not after what had happened to me and my family. I thought I was always destined to live my life as a drifter, seeking out the information I’d need in order to take down the dark elves.
Yet now that I’m here, in the arms of the man of my dreams, I can’t help but feel that it’s all some kind of cosmic joke that’s going to come crashing down on me at any moment. How did I get so lucky?
Pitha breathes soft and slow into my hair, still sleeping from our night rolling around in the sheets together. I think I’d surprised both of us with my stamina last night. But who couldblame me? We were both almost killed, a war is now brewing, and to top it all off, we may have enemies among friends.
Coming home with him last night after Malik’s revelation had made me realize just how lucky I am to have Pitha there to protect me—save me from any danger that may come our way. His fierce loyalty to his people and the protectiveness over me had been more than admirable.
It’s been downright sexy.
So of course, the moment we were back at his house I’d jumped his bones.
We barely made it to the bedroom before I’d gotten the straps of his weapons holders off of him and thrown to the floor and quickly worked at the waistband of his pants.
