“I like your DNA.”
I run my fingers along his chest and shoulders, feeling the hard muscles beneath my touch. His hands are on my back, fingers softly brushing my skin. We lazily trail each other’s bodies, avoiding the obvious parts. Regardless, my breath hitches when he strokes my ribs, and his eyes darken when I trace his abs.
Scooting closer, I feel his length between us. I’m so tempted to reach into the water and stroke him, but I like this game more. It’s a slow build-up, almost innocent. Time becomes a nonexistent thing.
His lips finally brush mine, and I sigh. We kiss and touch and breathe each other in until he can no longer control himself and cups my breasts. I tremble as his thumbs brush my nipples and his tongue invades my mouth.
I reach into the water and wrap my hand around his length, stroking him in measured movements. His hips jerk, and I smile.
“You mean so much to me,” he says as he moves his lips from mine and stares into my eyes. The gold in his hazel eyes shine brighter, almost like flames dancing in his irises.
“I feel the same way.” We aren’t coming out and saying the words, but the emotions are laid bare.
He smashes his mouth against mine and steals my breath, my kisses, my heart. I allow him to take all of me. We shift and water sloshes out of the tub, but I couldn’t care less.
His hands move down my body, finding my core. I moan as he touches me, my body quivering with need beyond his fingers. Moving over him, I position myself and look at him, waiting for his approval.
“Take me,” he says, so I do.
I sink down on him, arching my body as he fills me. Nate’s eyes close for a moment before blinking them open with intensity. His hands grip my hips and we move together, finding our rhythm. All I see and feel is him.
Our lips meld and we kiss until we’re both panting and moaning. I could do this my entire life. Get lost in this man and forget the world. I shatter above him, hips jerking as my orgasm washes over me. Nate continues to thrust upward, prolonging my orgasm by taking my nipple between his teeth. When he stills inside of me, he curses and grips the back of my neck, swallowing my moans.
I vow to myself never to lose this. To work every day so we’re always so attuned to each other. I promise myself to love this man until my last breath. No one else has ever taken out a lizard without complaint, tried to fix my AC, or put up with my awkward and inappropriate comments.
When I told myself that I was going to remain single and focus on my career, this man shows up in my life and tempts me to break all my rules.
He’s worth it, though.
Chapter 28
Nate
Istandoutsidethestation and pocket my phone after reading an unwanted message. Things are going great, so the last thing I need is my past to knock on my front door. As it is, I have a meeting with Sheriff McCall, which I doubt has anything to do with work.
I run a hand down my face and walk into the station, ready for a lecture. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t expect this. I actually thought the sheriff would call me sooner.
“Hey, man.” Luke waves from behind the counter with a smile.
“Hey, how’s it going?”
“Good, good. All is calm. How’s the school?” Luke grins and winks.
“All good.”
I haven’t hung out with Luke in a couple of weeks. I spend the free time I have with Lizzy, but maybe we should go out with our friends. I wouldn’t mind getting her on a dance floor.
“I’m going to go in and see Sheriff McCall.”
“Good luck.” He laughs as I walk back toward the office.
Knocking on the open door, Sheriff looks up at me and waves me in.
“Come in, Nate.”
“Good afternoon.”
Rubbing my hands down my pants, I enter and sit on a chair. I don’t know why I’m nervous. I’ve never been nervous confronting anyone in my life, even if it has to do with my personal life.
