“You sure?”

“I’m so fucking sure, babe. I don’t know why I never thought about it before. You and I have always made the best team.”

“Friendship and business can be tricky.”

“Then let’s get a lawyer to do their thing. We sign a contract and make it all legal,” Elle suggests.

“You’re actually serious?” I don’t quite believe it.

“Never beenmoreserious.”

Tears begin to well in my eyes. “I’m in.”

Elle launches herself at me, and we fall to the floor in a fit of giggles.

“We’re going to be such a kick-ass team,” Elle says.

“Fuck, yeah, we are. My connections, your talent … we’re going to have the hottest bakery in London,” I say enthusiastically. “And Elle … thank you.”

“You don’t need to thank me.”

“I do. You’ve given me purpose. I’ve never had that before.”

“We’ve got this!” Elle reassures me.

“First things first, though. You have a hot man to get back to. We can sort things out when you get back. Enjoy the week, and then we will work out what happens next.”

“You sure?”

“Yes. The Universe is telling you to have fun with this man. How else do you explain Sierra’s weird broken ankle?” I say, wiggling my brows.

“Coincidence.”

“Nope, the Universe gave you two a second chance,” I reassure her.

Elle rushes out of the villa with her bags packed, and I’m jealous. I wish it was Jasper who was asking me to spend the week with him in a villa.

After the way we left things at his father’s funeral and the hurt and hate he has for me, there’s no way in hell he would ever ask me to stay for the week with him if he ever was here.

Come to think of it, if something happens between Elle and Alistair, and she actually goes back to London with him and they fall in love and live happily ever after, does that mean I’m going to have to be around Jasper because they are friends?

Shit.

I don’t know if I can sit back and watch him fall in love and get married to someone else. This was your choice.

It was, but I can still regret it.

My phone beeps, pulling me from my melancholy.

Jasper:You’ve been in the Caribbean this whole entire time?

My heart thunders in my chest as I read the words on my screen. I unblocked him before the grand opening, hoping that maybe he would reach out to me before coming, but he never did. I know he was here, but I made sure I was far away from him, and thankfully, never ran into him.

Lauren:Yeah, I have been.

Jasper:At the resort?

Lauren:Yes.
