More silence fills the end of my phone. Is this not something he wants?
“You’re quitting the island?” Jasper asks.
“Yes, we have a lot to sort out as literally this conversation happened before she rushed back to Alistair. But neither one of us are happy here. Elle hasn’t been able to bake for most of the time here which has been slowly killing her creativity, and unfortunately, my mind hasn’t been on the job in a long time, so much so that I tend to stick with the ladies while on the island.”
“I’m sorry, what did you say?”
“It’s been a couple of months since I’ve had a dick, Jasper. Do you remember that time you asked me if I needed to think of yours to get off when I was riding someone else’s? That didn’t work for long because it didn’t satisfy me. Nothing worked … all my mind could think about was your dick. This posed a problem seeing as it’s my job to create fantasies, and the only way I could get off and have fun was changing my bracelet to pink for the ladies.”
“Fuck, Lauren, you can’t say these things to me over the phone, not when you’re a million miles away. My dick is as hard as a fucking rock,” he curses at me.
“I’m sure it is.”
“What does this mean for us?”
“I don’t know, but what I do know is I’ll be home within the month.”
Jasper sucks in a breath. “A month?”
“Elle and I have a lot to work out. Even if Elle and Alistair don’t get together, we will be returning anyway.”
“A month, hey?”
“It’s not long.”
“Will you come and find me?”
“Do you want me to?”
“Yes,” he answers quickly without hesitation.
“Then I will,” I say with a smile on my face.
“Can we still chat until then?”
“Yes, I’d like that.” That stupid flutter begins to ramp up inside me.
“I have to go, Freya keeps texting me. Please stay in touch.”
“I will. Say hi to Freya for me and look after yourself, Jasper.”
“You, too, babe.”
And with those parting words, he’s gone. I fall back against my bed with the biggest smile on my face.
One month and then we can see each other again and maybe give whatever we had another shot.

“Why have you been ignoring me?” Freya moans as she sits on the sofa flicking through a fashion magazine.
I join her in the living room. “Because I was on the phone with Lauren.”
Freya’s eyes widen, and she drops the magazine. “Tell me everything.”
“There’s not much to tell.”
