I understand, and I can’t ask her to give up who she is just like she can’t do that to me.
“Maybe we need a break from each other,” Lauren suggests.
That thought makes my chest hurt, but I think she’s right. The more time we spend together, the more I want her.
“I think you might be right,” I agree sadly, squeezing her hand.
“It won’t be forever, but we both have our roles to play, and we are muddying up the waters.”
And I agree with her.
“How long … for a week? A month? Maybe two?”
“I think a month will be sufficient. Don’t they say it takes thirty days to break a bad habit?”
“Something like that.”
“After tonight, I’ll see you in a month?”
“Sounds like the plan.”
“Again, thanks for saving me from that disaster of a date,” Lauren says as I walk her out of the pub and onto the street.
“Thanks for disappearing with me. I’ve had fun.”
“Guess this is goodbye then?” She looks up at me with those ice- blue eyes.
“Guess it is.” Looking down at her plump red lips, all I want to do is kiss her. I notice Lauren’s tongue slide across her lips. Is she thinking the same thing too?
Fuck it.
I grab her hand, pull her down the side alley, press her against the wall, and kiss her. Lauren slightly protests for a millisecond before opening her mouth to me. My fingers lace in her hair as I push her into the bricks, pressing my aching cock to her thigh.
“I’ve wanted to do that all night.” I sigh against her throat as my tongue slides against her skin.
Lauren shivers at my touch. “Me too.”
“Come home with me?” I ask her.
“I can’t.”
“I fucking want you, Lauren.” I curse as I push my dick against her thigh again.
“You can’t have me, Jasper. I’m sorry.”
My hands drop from her face, and I move away from her body. I’ve never wanted anyone as much I want Lauren in this moment.
“Guess it’s for the best that we spend some time apart then.”
Lauren nods.
“Come on, let’s get you into a taxi and home before I make even more of a fool of myself than I already have.”
“You aren’t a fool, Jasper. You have no idea how much it’s taking me to stick to saying no to going home with you.” She reaches out to me, dusting off some imaginary fluff from my chest.
My hand closes over hers, and I give her a gentle squeeze.
“I’ll see you in a month.”
