Still fuming about the way his life was going, Niles wasn’t paying much attention as he flew past theWelcome to Warden’s Passsign. He didn’t notice the police car until it was behind him with the lights flashing. Cussing, he gunned it.

The last thing he needed was to deal with some pigs after the day he’d had.Fuck that. He’d just lose them and swing back around to his mom’s. He could hide her car in the neighbor’s garage for a while until the police forgot about it.

Niles could have done it, too, if that fucking deer hadn’t darted out in front of the car at the exact wrong god damn time.

Niles hit the deer going sixty in a forty, sending the smashed-up car fishtailing. Eventually, it rolled and continued to roll until it ended up in the ditch on the side of the road.

The next thing Niles remembered was waking up cuffed to a hospital bed.Fuck!

“Well, welcome back, Niles.” The officer grinned down at him. “The car was totaled, by the way, but don’t worry. We were able to save the cans of spray paint from the trunk. You know… the spray paint you used on the library.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Niles mumbled, his head throbbing.

The officer chuckled. “Yeah. Tell that to the judge.”

Rebel

Sitting around the clubhouse with his brothers, Rebel watched as Ruby hung out with her new sisters. Siren somehow talked Sugar out of shots. They were entering another time of uncertainty in the club. The last thing they needed was a bunch of drunk Ol’ Ladies to look after.

Siren took a seat across from Rebel and let out a sigh. He looked confused as he gazed across the room at his woman.

“What’s up?”

Siren’s gaze shifted to Pike at his question. “That was too easy,” he mumbled.

“What?” Rebel asked.

“Talking her out of shots. She’s drinking a caffeine-free pop.”

Rebel’s eyes widened as he looked over at Pike. Pike had the same look on his face, and Bullet whistled low and asked, “Is she preggo?”

Rebel had never seen Siren move so fast. One minute, he was sitting in his chair. The next, he was at his woman across the room, and had his nose buried in her neck. They watched as Sugar glared at him and shoved him away. They had a whispered conversation that was so light, even their shifter hearing couldn’t pick it up, before Siren nodded and kissed her.

As Siren made his way back to the table, he shook his head. He plopped down in his chair. “She said she’s not pregnant, yet.”

“Yet?” Pike smiled at Siren. Siren’s answering smile told them everything they wanted to know. He loved the idea of being a dad, and the possibility was more real than it had been the day before.

“Pike, what’s up with the pink hand towels? A stack of them showed up at our house, and Butterfly said Pixie gave them to her. She started giggling when I asked about them. Nothing in our house is pink, except those damn hand towels.”

“Same with Sugar,” Siren said with a nod.

“You too?” Rock took one of the open seats.

“Gorgeous got some, too, but she likes pink so I didn’t think too much about it. I amnow, though.”

Rebel and Pike locked eyes. They were both trying to hold back laughter. They managed it for about three minutes before Pike and Rebel were wheezing with laughter, and Rock and Siren groaned.

“What in the hell is wrong with you two?” Axle demanded as he looked at them like they grew extra limbs.

“Inside joke,” Pike managed to squeak out between wheezing laughs.

Axle just shook his head and walked away, headed for his woman, while shouting, “Gorgeous! We’re throwing out those damn towels!”

Ruby

When Rebel stopped his bike in front of Allie’s house, Ruby grudgingly unwrapped her arms from around his waist and slid off the back. She was wearing her property cut from the club and wanted to show Allie. She didn’t want Allie finding out from someone else. Her bestie would have been pissed.

Rebel got off the bike and slid his arm around her waist as they headed for the front door. She loved how he felt the need to touch her at all times. He was good about giving her space when she needed it, but he made it clear that touching was his love language.
