“Does Raina know?” he asked.
“No. I told Megan that is up to her when and how to tell Raina.”
“Ass,” Trent said. “You should do it together.”
“Why? It’s her friend.”
“And your sister.”
“So? Raina isn’t going to care who I’m dating. She’s not like that. I’m telling you right now, she’d rather hear it from Megan and hear it alone.”
“If you say so,” Trent said.
“I do. Now why are you in my office?” he asked.
“I came from work and I forgot to get food before I worked out. I’m hungry. You’ve got shit back here,” Trent said and moved over to the fridge, grabbed the sandwich meat and found the bread. “Yum, chips too.”
“Should have figured you’d be ruled by your gut.”
“I made it here, didn’t I? You’re always giving me shit about not exercising.”
“I am,” he said. “And you’re always too busy. The question is why you’re not tonight.”
Trent shrugged as he put his sandwich together. “Just needed a break.”
“Or not,” he said. “Something going on?”
“Work,” Trent said. “Nothing major. Just a lot on my plate. It’s stressing me and I don’t like the headaches.”
“Literal headaches?” he asked.
“Sometimes. I know you get that. Not that I had what you did,” Trent said.
No, Trent didn’t, but his brother had gotten a migraine or two that he’d seen when he was overworked. Jonah had helped him get through, giving him advice on what worked and what didn’t.
Unfortunately for him, most of the time, meds were the only things that did it. He knew the signs now on what caused them and how to head them off.
He stayed hydrated. He made sure he ate throughout the day. And most of all he tried to be as stress free as he could.
Which was why he was letting Megan take the lead on what to do about Raina.
There were other things for him to worry about in life and his sister’s reaction to anything he might have going on with Megan wasn’t one of them.

Had It Covered
“Got any plans this weekend?” Raina asked her at lunch on Friday. They were in the small cafeteria where they normally met a few times a week.
At least she wouldn’t be lying to Raina about anything here. “I’ve got to get a birthday gift for Abby at the mall and her party is on Sunday.”
“Oh, time with your family. Bet you are looking forward to that.”
She smirked at Raina’s laughter. “Emily called me the other day. She told me Abby wants these shorts that Tom won’t let her have. Guess my brother-in-law thinks they are too short.”
“What does Emily think?”
“Emily thinks they are fine. That all the kids are wearing them. I saw them. I looked online and saw them on the model that is probably taller than Abby. Everything is covered. There is a rip on the front pocket, but it’s not like you can see through anything.”
