“You can watch the news from the States here?”

I sat down in my armchair and pulled her into my lap. Grabbing my tablet, I turned it on. “I have access to a satellite that allows me to watch whatever I want in any country.”

She leaned against my chest, and we watched the Providence news discussing the identification of the bones discovered in Starke Vision’s garage.

“That’s Remi’s marketing company!” Michelle exclaimed. “I remembered Audri talking about it.”

I doubted Michelle knew the entire story because Audri probably didn’t know it either. Slash, a member of the crime organization, had saved my friends and me when we inadvertently witnessed the crime at the abandoned church. He had warned us not to share what we’d seen with anyone, or the organization would kill our families and us. As young boys, we’d been scared shitless.

Though some of us got glimpses from our drones, Remi and Grayson got the better view from where they stood on the balcony. That day, we’d been excited to meet and discuss our WaterFyre Rising video game at the abandoned church, our official meeting place. But a group of criminals murdered a man there. That man’s body had somehow been buried inside the garage of Remi’s marketing firm. A construction worker had discovered the body during renovation.

The reporter with the short brown hair said, “It’s a sad day for the City of Providence. We have identified City Councilman Edward Bryson as the person buried inside a garage here in the city. Edward was reported missing by his family years ago and was never found. His services will be held next week. He leaves behind a wife and a son. His son Dominic Bryson serves as the police chief for our city. Our hearts go out to the Bryson family . . .”

I’d heard enough and tuned out the rest of the news. The pieces were falling into place, but there were still so many little gaps. Was Dominic after my friends and me? We had nothing to do with his father’s death. What exactly did he know about the incident?

Reaching for my phone, I sent my boys a text.

You guys available for a chat tonight?

They all replied yes.

Michelle looked at me with concern. “Do you know the city council?”

“No. But his son was the bully I fought with in high school.” What did Dominic want from me? He could hurt Michelle if he knew how important she was to me. “Let’s have an early dinner, okay? I’ve got a conference with the boys tonight.”

She considered me. I could tell she had more questions and was thankful she didn’t press. “Say hello to the WaterFyre men for me.” Her eyes sparkled. “Or if you prefer to keep our relationship—”

“I want the world to know you’re mine.”

Her face brightened. “I need to tell my SSG 003 too.”

“What’s that? Sounds like a secret code.”

“It is.” She wiggled her eyebrows. “Super Spy Girls 003. The girls and I dressed up as spies one Halloween and it stuck. You know, I had a special mission for you.” She poked me in the abdomen.

“Oh yeah?” My brows lifted with fascination. “What did you have in mind? Apprehend me for stealing your heart? Tie me up so you can have your way with me? All you have to do is ask, angel. I’ll let you do whatever you desire.”

This lighthearted conversation erased the darkness weighing on me from earlier.

“It’s called From Iceland with Love. I wanted to know if you wanted me as more than a friend. Now I know. This country is special to me—it gave meyou.”

Her honesty penetrated my heart, filling it with so much love I didn’t know how to react. My heart had never felt so soft, so vulnerable, and so completely bare to her. She didn’t know she’d yanked off my armor with a simple statement that possessed more power than anything I’d encountered. This woman was the only woman who could truly hurt me.

I embraced her, and we stayed like that for a long moment.

“From Iceland with Love is my mission too. I’ll give you everything you deserve.”

“You already have.”

I was going to wait and tell her about Fiona and Brittany, but it was probably best to inform her now. It could give Michelle time to evaluate the situation and prepare for the next step. Brittany Parker was on a mission to destroy my woman, and I’d make sure she knew my wrath.

Pulling back, I looked into her eyes. “Fiona had someone smash your window. She wanted to scare you off so you’d run back to the States and leave me here for her.”

Michelle crinkled her forehead. “She’s insane.”

“She won’t bother us anymore.” I inhaled a breath. “But there’s someone else who wants to harm you. She’s responsible for the thief and the bomb. This person appears to be more unstable than Fiona.”

“Who?”
