“Wait.” I chuckled. “Do you think I’m a virgin?”

“I don’t mean to assume anything but ...”

Now it was my turn to throw my head back and laugh. “First of all, virginity is a bullshit, patriarchal social construct. Second, I’m plenty experienced too, so when I say I want you inside me, I mean it.”

Jet watched me with a mixture of emotions on his face—surprise, amusement, admiration maybe? And something really tender I could’ve easily interpreted as love if I wanted to.

“Noted,” he finally responded.

“Come on.” I pulled him over to the motorbike, then gestured for him to get on.

“Where are we off to now, princess?” he asked as he swung his leg over.

In answer, I settled myself in front of him, facing him.

He caressed the exposed skin below the hem of my hiked-up skirt. “We’re not having sex in a public place in broad daylight. I’m not comfortable with that.”

“Noted,” I parroted his own sentiment before leaning in for a kiss. I wanted to fuck him right on the back of the motorbike, but we could work up to that. That didn’t mean we couldn’t fool around a bit though.

I had my back to my favorite view in all of Devilbend, and I didn’t even care. Because in front of me, between my legs, was something that interested me even more.

Jet didn’t seem all that impressed with the sprawling landscape or the setting sun anymore either. He only had eyes for me. There was something really addicting about that.

He’d dated practically half the girls at school since he arrived, but none of them had held his interest long enough to even get a kiss. Then he went and practically claimed me in front of everyone and looked at me likethat.Who wouldn’t be intoxicated?

“What’s going on in that complicated head of yours?” he asked, the dimples barely flashing with a soft smile.

“Just thinking about you,” I said, then nearly reared back in surprise at my own honesty. I hadn’t even hesitated. There were exactly three people I was ever that candid with. I guessed now it was four.

“Yeah?” The dimples deepened. “What about me?”

I pulled back slightly, but I didn’t have much room, and his grip on my waist tightened. I didn’t want to stroke his ego, but I also didn’t want to close up completely. I kind of liked being more vulnerable with him. A little. Just dipping my toe in the vulnerability river. The water was nice.

“Those damn dimples, for one.” I leaned in and licked the left one, making him chuckle. “And those eyes.”

“What about my eyes?”

They see so much—even things I don’t want others to see.

“They’re pretty.” I smirked, wanting to keep it light.

“Pretty.” He raised his eyebrows.

“And your thighs.” I ran my hands up the solid muscle to his hips. “I love the way they look, spread like this. It’s so ... masculine.”

“Mm-hmm.” He watched me intently, his thumbs dipping under my shirt to rub at the skin above my waistband.

“And your ass.” I reached around to grab it. “You have a great ass. Especially when you’re riding.”

His hands dropped to my own butt, and with a sure squeeze, he yanked me closer. We ended up chest to chest, my core firmly against his rapidly growing erection. Reluctantly, I released his ass and wrapped my arms around his neck for balance.

“Keep going,” he murmured against my lips.

“Talking time is over.” My voice was breathy as I closed the minuscule distance and kissed him hard.

Our conversation earlier had cleared the air and apparently lifted some mental block for him. Because he wasn’t holding back anymore. There was no hesitation in the way he kissed me—he was letting go, and I wanted all he had to give.

When I moaned into his mouth and ground myself against him this time, he didn’t break the kiss or push me away—he drew me in closer. His fingers dug into the hair at the back of my scalp, and he used the leverage to tilt my head a little more, giving his mouth greater access to mine. He devoured me. His tongue, his lips, even his teeth. He was hands-down the best kisser I’d ever had.
