I look back at Virgo, who's staring at me as if I’ve really lost my mind.

Maybe I have.

"Dante—".

"I know,” I cut him off, because I do know I’m playing with fucking fire.

“But you're still doing it. What the hell do you expect to achieve from this?”

“She's harmless fun, my friend. Just harmless fun.”

“This is the kind of harmless fun that could get in the way.”

“If I thought it could get in the way, I wouldn't do it. Now go do your accounts.” I smirk, annoying him. “Looks like I’m going to be busy, too.”

"Don't make things more complicated than they already are."

I don’t answer because I know I should definitely be listening to him, but my mind checked out the moment I heard Serenity Bell is here asking for me.

Virgo gets up and leaves, and I go into the other room.

We each have our own private lounges for personal entertainment. I sit there and wait for her.

When the door opens and Serenity walks in, my eyes glue to her body, taking in every inch of her perfection.

Fuck me. Just when I thought I’ve seen enough of her beauty, I’m proven wrong.

Her hair is up in a ponytail, showing off high cheekbones and those beautiful bright green eyes. She's wearing a body-hugging cocktail dress which flirts with her legs as she glides toward me with nerves in every step.

God help me. I know I need to be careful, but right now, I don't know if I want to try.

ChapterTwelve

Serenity

I made it.

I’m here.

And there is Dante.

I gaze at him from across the room. When he smiles, my insides melt like hot butter.

My God, how can he look better than just days ago?

He’s sitting on a black leather sofa looking like a million dollars rolled into a vision of sexiness that should be illegal.

He’s dressed in full black like he was that first night we met.

His piercing blue eyes lock on me, following my every step, making me note instantly the difference between him and Matthew.

Matthew was assessing me to see if I matched up to the women who usually grovel at his feet. Dante, on the other hand, is looking at me as if I’m the most beautiful woman in the world and nothing and no one compares to me.

That look tells me he’d never leave me for my stepsister’s friends.

Or for anything at all.

I’ve never had a man look at me with such wild interest. It’s definitely one of those things to note that I’ll never forget.
