“I just wanted to give you a heads up that someone bailed Bradley Scott out of jail last night. I’m not sure if he has any ill intentions towards Sophia, but it might be something to be on the lookout for.”

“Thanks, man.”

I hang up, dialing Sophia but getting no answer.

I’m trying not to panic, but it’s hard. After a few more tries, I give up and dial Kinsley.

“Hey, Knox,” she says.

“Are you home?”

“Yeah, I got here about an hour ago.”

“Is Sophia home?”

“I haven’t seen her. I went down to your room to talk to her, but she wasn’t there. I thought that was odd because her car is here, but I just figured the two of you were together.”

“Fuck!” I yell, slamming my hands on the steering wheel.

“Knox, what’s going on?” she asks.

“I’ve been at Dad’s office. Preston just called me to let me know that Bradley was released from jail this morning. I have a really bad feeling that something has happened,” I say, pulling over to the side of the road, trying to pull myself together.

“Oh my God, what are we going to do?” she asks.

“I don’t know. I don’t have any fucking idea.”

My head is spinning. I don’t know anything about Bradley. I have no idea what his intentions would be.

“Knox, are you okay? Do you want me to call Kai and Kane?” Kinsley asks.

“No, don’t do that. I’ll be home in a few minutes. I’m going to see if I can figure anything out.”

I pull away from the side of the road and speed towards the house, throwing my truck into park and jumping out.

Kinsley is pacing the hallway when I open the door.

“What are we going to do?” she asks, racing towards me.

“I don’t know,” I say, running my hand down my face.

My first thought is to run downstairs and see if there looks like there was any struggle. Once I get down the stairs, I notice right away that everything is exactly where it was when I left. Even Sophia’s phone is still plugged in on the nightstand. There’s a change of clothes sitting on the bed like she was about to change but got distracted. That tells me that she wasn’t down here when he showed up.

When I get to the top of the stairs, everything looks normal there also, until I look to my left. The rug is bunched up in front of the back door and the door is standing wide open.

“Kins, have you been out back since you got home?” I ask.

“No. I came in, put my stuff up in my room, then walked to your room to find Sophia. When I didn’t see her, I went back upstairs and fell asleep.”

I run upstairs to my office, pulling our security camera footage of the yard up on my computer, rewinding back about an hour.

That’s when I see them. Bradley has a grip on Sophia’s arm, dragging her through the yard. I can see them all the way until they hit the hill, and when they start walking towards the road behind the house, that’s when I lose them.

“Son of a bitch,” I yell, shoving things off my desk in rage.

“What’s wrong?” Kinsley asks, rushing into the room.

I replay the camera footage, watching her hand fly up to her mouth.
