“I don’t get out much,” I say flatly.
“I’m Tabby,” she purrs, batting her eyelashes in my direction.
“I didn’t ask.”
She glares at me, but then bounces back pretty quickly. “Does it look like I care if you asked?”
Okay, this one is feisty.
“Look, I’m not trying to be rude, but I’m looking for my sister. I don’t have time to be distracted.”
“Who is your sister? Maybe I can help?” she offers.
“Cameron Garrett.”
“You’re Cameron’s brother?” She looks surprised by the information.
“I am. Do you know her?”
“Yeah, we have a few classes together. We run around in the same group.”
“Ahh, so you’re only in high school too.” I raise my eyebrow in her direction.
“For the next two weeks anyway.” She shrugs.
“You’re not a junior?” I ask.
“No, I’m one of the older ones of the group,” she replies, sipping her drink.
I allow myself a chance to check her out, my eyes traveling down her body. She’s hot, I’ll give her that. Not really my type though. She seems a bit desperate. I already have one of those to worry about. The last thing I need is another Monika.
“Anyway, I saw your sister about five minutes ago in the kitchen.” She gestures towards the back of the house.
“Thanks.” I walk away before she has the chance to say anything else.
Walking through the entryway to the kitchen, I find my baby sister wrapped up in some guy. She’s sitting on the counter, and he’s weaseled his way in-between her legs, pawing her with his face buried in her neck.
“What the fuck, Cam?” I grit my teeth.
“Cole! What are you doing here?” she says, obviously angry at me for interrupting whatever they had going on.
“I thought you were single?” the tool with his hands on my sister has the nerve to say.
“I am, this is my brother.” She waves her hand in my direction, like she couldn’t care less than I’m here.
“Where’s Charlie?” I ask, eyes bouncing around the room.
“Hopefully getting laid.” Cam laughs.
The thought of Charlie in a dark room at a college party with some dude makes my blood boil.
“Did you seriously just leave her somewhere?” I ask, my hands gripping the side of the counter.
“Oh, give me a break, Cole. We party all the time. We aren’t kids.” She hops off the counter, pushing the guy away, rolling her eyes.
“It’s not the two of you I’m worried about, Cam. It’s douchebags like this.” I gesture towards the random guy in the kitchen.
“Hey, man. I was just looking for a good time. She came onto me.” He puts his hands up in surrender.
