“You act like it’s been years since you’ve seen me,” I say, laughing.
“It feels like it. I want you to tell me what’s going on.” She pouts.
“Soon,” I promise her.
I haven’t even told Charlie that because of her money I was able to get my debts paid off. I’m in the clear. My guy is supposed to be calling me this evening about Jasper. He texted me earlier and told me he found something. I’m going to have to figure out how to get Charlie alone so I can tell her the good news.
“Am I breaking up a reunion?” Charlie asks, walking up to us, smiling.
She looks breathtaking. Her long dark hair is falling in waves down her back. She’s wearing a red dress that hugs all of her curves. Her amazing breasts are on full display. It’s taking every ounce of self-control I have not to pull her into my arms.
“You look beautiful,” Cam says, grabbing Charlie’s hand. “I decided you can drive,” she says to me.
The girls sit in the back, gossiping, while I steal looks with Charlie in the rearview mirror. I can’t get over how beautiful she looks. I’m so far gone it’s not even funny. This has definitely transformed from a game to something far more than that.
The party is in full swing when we arrive. I find Tyler right away, and the girls run off to find drinks and boys. Cam’s words, not Charlie’s.
“What’s been up, man?” Tyler asks, handing me a drink.
“Taking care of some shit,” I tell him.
“Did you get everything squared away?”
Tyler knows I got myself into some trouble, he just doesn’t know the full story. I didn’t want him trying to help.
“Yeah.”
“I’m glad to hear that. Maybe things can get back to normal,” he says between drinks.
“Hold that thought. I’ll be right back,” I tell him.
I need to find Charlie.
A few minutes later, I find her standing in a corner, nursing a drink.
“Where’s Cam?” I ask.
“She went to the bathroom. I think,” she says, frowning.
“I need to talk to you,” I tell her, grabbing her hand and pulling her into the nearest bedroom.
“What’s going on?” she asks, after I close the door.
“I wanted to thank you for the loan. I’m all paid off and I’m done with everything. That’s all because of you.”
“I’m so glad to hear that, Cole,” she says, giving me a small smile.
I grab her hand, pulling her close to me.
“What’s wrong? What’s going on in that pretty head of yours, princess?” I ask, brushing some hair from her face.
“I’m scared,” she says, and I cup her face in my hands.
“I’ve got you,” I promise her.
I lean in, pressing my lips against hers.
A kiss full of promises and passion. This is a kiss between two people that are obviously in love with each other but are too scared to admit it.
