My heartless girl.

Not unless it’s with me.

“Do you, Liam—”

“I do,” Liam cut off the preacher.

“I do, too,” I agreed quickly, then jumped Liam. The preacher said something, but all I cared about was Liam and his hands on me. My heels wrapped around his back, and he spun me around as we kissed. Somewhere in the distance, Pete and Steve laughed. They were used to me shoving my tongue down Liam’s throat. The preacher, on the other hand…

“Let’s go.” Liam lowered me to my feet.

“Who needs a wedding, anyway?” I asked as he tugged me through the church.

Forgive me, Father, for I am soulless.

But not without an undead heart that helped save the soulless people from evil vampires.

The pews might be empty, but Pete and Steve were the only family we needed. Well, that might be an odd term to call them. I sensed their emotions through our bonds, and neither of them held any brotherly feelings for me. Much to Liam’s displeasure.

“The paper we signed already makes you Mrs. Crocker.” Liam flashed his fangs at me.

“Jayne Crocker,” Steve whistled behind us. “Got a nice ring to it.”

My heart no longer beat, but it was close to bursting with warmth as I smiled at my husband. “It does.”

Scooping me up into his arms, Liam nuzzled my neck, then studied the cross necklace hanging between my breasts. My hands found the heart necklace beneath his tux. We swapped not long after I became like him. It made sense for him to carry my heart since he owned the beatless appendage, and I was his saving grace—why I carried the cross. Pete and Steve said we were so cheesy it was disgusting. But the two of them always belched out lyrics of how I saved them, so I called them phonies.

“I love you,” I whispered into my husband’s ear.

He planted a passionate kiss on my lips and then said, “I love you. Ready for forever?”

“With you? Forever won’t be enough.”

Epilogue

Keeper of my soul,

You heartless one.

Love of my life,

The undead one.

You’re my undead girl,

I’m your undead boy.

YOUR DAILY CELEBRITY GOSSIP:

I’m sorry, guys. I didn’t want it to be true just as much as any other longtime fan, but The Oppressors have spoken. Liam announced their retirement last night during their MAG performance. They’ve had a great sixteen years.
