Page 22 of Heartbeat Girl
Get it together, Jayne!
Wait.Something about what he said… I frowned. “You said smell?” I pursed my lips before asking. “Smell my fear?” How was that possible?
The door opened, and Liam scowled. “Steve,” he hissed.
While Liam focused on his bandmate, I used that to my advantage and pushed away from him.
“Jayne.”
Ignoring him, I headed into the dressing room. My stomach dropped to the floor when I spotted the mystery woman standing beside Steve, resting her weight against him. She stumbled slightly; head smacking against his chest as he helped her stay upright. What was her problem? I glowered at the men.
“What’s wrong with her?” When I was close enough, I touched her arm. “Did you guys let her take something?” I blew out a breath and scowled at Liam. “Please don’t tell me you gave her something! Are you crazy?”
“No drugs.” the woman raised her head and smiled at me before dropping it against Steve’s chest again. “No dick either,” she whined.
That couldn’t be right.
“She’s fine,” Steve assured.
Fine, my ass.
My gaze snagged on the red spots on the collar of her shirt. I grabbed the material, careful not to touch whatever it was. “It that blood?” I asked as I glimpsed more at the end of her long sleeve. “What happened?”
Alarms rang in my head. Oh, God.That’s not good.Blood?
I took a step back. For some odd reason, I irrationally wanted to run, but it was pointless because I wouldn’t leave this girl. She moaned again, shoving her hand down Steve’s shirt.
“Easy there,” Steve told her, removing her fingers.
She writhed and whined against him. From the looks of it, the woman orgasmed with no one doing anything to her.Not possible!
“She might have taken something before she came backstage,” Pete said slowly, like I was a small bird about to take flight. “But she’s okay. Just loopy. Her friend is out front waiting for her.”
But I wouldn’t run when it came to the well-being of someone else. I protested when Liam stepped between me and the girl. “Liam,” I warned.
“Should wear off soon—whatever it is she took,” he explained, turning me away from Steve and the girl.
“Absolutely not. I cannot believe this. First night and something like this—” Liam slapped his palm over my mouth and pushed me forward.
“So, for you to be less afraid, you need to be angry?” Liam’s deep voice rasped against my ear, tingling my neck. “Dully noted.”
My heart hammered. I tried to bite his hand, but that only made him grunt and pull me closer into his chest. I stiffened as he propelled me forward, heat crawling up my neck and face. Our bodies were too close as he shoved me toward the bus. Shamefully, I forgot about the girl and what the guys might have done to her. Liam’s erection poked at my ass and obliterated my thoughts. A gasp escaped my lips before I could stop it. My clit started throbbing the instant his dick grazed my backside.Oh, no, no, no.Didn’t he take care ofthatearlier? Why did I care so much?
He was like a leech, though. Liam didn’t let me go until we were on the bus. Walking away from me, he plopped down at the booth, but his eyes were on me like a hawk. When I went for the door, he called out. “Don’t. Just let it be, Jayne. You think you know, but you don’t. I’ll get Steve to send you a picture of her and her friend once she returns to normal.”
You think you know, but you don’t.I was so tired of not knowing.
“Because no one tells me anything!” I shouted as I tightened my fists and turned toward the bedroom. “I better get a video, or I’ll call the cops. If any of you drugged her, I’m done. I’ll quit right now.”
“We didn’t drug her.” Liam sighed.
“I’m so pissed,” I announced, more to myself than him, but he still answered.
“I can see that.”
“Don’t talk to me,” I warned, waiting by the bedroom door instead of going in.
“Sit down. Your emotions are coming out like waves, and they’re going to rub off on me if you don’t relax.”
