“Huh?”

“Well, it made you come all the way over here to ask,” he said.

That caught me off guard. What did it matter if I walked over unless... I blushed, lowering my arms. That wasn’t the first time I sensed a hidden meaning behind Liam’s words. Was Liam flirting with me?

“Forget it. I guess I saw it wrong.” I lingered another second before I said, “Have fun out there. And I hope you get hit in the head with a bra again, Steve.”

“You saw that?” Steve rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “What can I say? Our fans love me.”

“I didn’t know Jayne was actually talking to us today. No one told me, and I’ve been gone.” Pete sulked as he strode up behind Liam and Steve.

I rolled my eyes while Steve winked and said, “I’m going to go use the bathroom before we start. Make sure you relieve your bladder, too, Liam. You don’t want that kind of urge on stage.”

I quirked a brow as I watched Steve walk away. So odd. All of them.

“Um, I guess I’ll let you guys get ready.” I tossed my hand up to wave, then realized how weird that was and stopped. Why was I so awkward?

“Jayne?” Liam's voice drifted out light and buttery, like any time he sang soft rock.

“What?” I waited.

Instead of answering, he closed his eyes and smiled. Um… Okay? I needed a guide to help me understand these three. When he opened his lids, those azure orbs were pure mischief roving over me. “Oh, nothing. Just listening. Always listening to you.”

“Listening to me?” The corner of my mouth twitched as I shook my head. “I don’t understand any of you.”

“Maybe not completely, but this second, your sound has changed.” He stared at my breasts as he spoke. My nipples tightened, and I inhaled sharply. I pulled up my blouse even though I barely had any skin showing, hoping to hide whatever his eyes were focused on.

“Okay then.” I gulped. “I’m leaving.”

I resisted the urge to run, but I traced my fingers down my burning face.I’m feverish.

Chapter Eleven

LIAM

Icouldn’t tear my gaze from Jayne. As Pete hit the button on the elevator, she beamed while carrying a small bag on her shoulder with clothes and whatever she’d need in her hotel room. Her slim hips sashayed, a rhythmic dance to her movement as she hummed and smiled. Every step she took, I saw the energy. I enjoyed seeing her happy.

“Are you that happy?” I asked, stepping inside the elevator right behind her.

Tilting her head toward me, she laughed. “For privacy?Yes.”

I frowned, getting as close as I could to her without making her uncomfortable. “You had the bedroom.”

“That’s not exactly private,” she said.

I tugged at the ball cap I wore. “What’s your plans?”

I ignored the way Steve and Pete looked back at us as the doors closed. They were fucking delirious if they thought I would keep any more distance than this with her. It killed me enough that I always wanted to touch her.

“Let’s do something!” Steve blurted.

“Staying in my room and ordering room service is the plan.” She grimaced. “Sorry, Steve. Your laughter has kept me up enough this week.”

“Let’s watch something then. We’ll bring the movie. You order the food,” Pete suggested.

Not what I had in mind. Neither of them would allow me a moment alone with her.

“You guys are free tomorrow,” Jayne mumbled. “I figured you might live it up somewhere.”
