Because I saw him enough to know they were usually a pale pink.

So he offered me breakfast after a quickie? Who did that so early, anyway? Or was it an all-nighter since he had the weekend to unwind? I hated that my mind wouldn’t stop obsessing about Liam’s sex life.

No way could I eat with an upset stomach. I didn’t meet his eyes as I took his offerings.

Although I didn’t hear sounds of a party coming from their room, I asked, “Have you been out all night?”

“No. Just left a few minutes ago to get you coffee and food,” he replied.

My gaze hadn’t left his chest. The longer we stood in silence, the tension climbing up my neck grew worse.

“Jayne?”

“Thanks for the food. I’m sure you’re busy. I’m going to get dressed and eat.”

He grabbed the side of the door as I tried to close it. “Want some company?”

My heart raced. “If I wanted company, I would have preferred the bus.”

“You’re going to spend the entire weekend alone?” He frowned. “You don’t have to.”

Lately, I saw a lot of pouting and rigid posturing from Liam. “You’re rarely playful around me anymore,” I blurted, and he stiffened more. My hands and heart trembled, but it was too late to take back my words. “You used to be so mischievous. What happened?”

His perfect blues brightened before he nudged my door. “Oh? How so?”

I allowed him to open it further. “You know how. You guys used to make jokes about me running from you all… I don’t know. I guess you smiled more.”

I regretted bringing it up as soon as he replied, “Because that’s the only parts you’ve seen, you assume that’s all of me?”

Lust shot through my core as he pushed into my room.

“I know better than that. Ask me why that is,” he said.

No way I would I do that. Instead, I sucked in a breath. I refused to hide my glare as the door clicked shut. “Liam.”

“You run because youseethere’s more to me than that, don’t you?”

The truth in his words made my heart pound. And the way his voice deepened to match the intensity of his watchful eyes. My breath quickened as an electric pulse rippled through me. It scared me, and yet…

His gaze seemed to track me as I stepped aside. Liam stalked me and rasped, “Maybe I want you to see more than what the rest of the world sees. Maybe I want you to seeme.”

I swore I felt naked…vulnerable as he looked at me.

“Thanks for barging into my room,” I croaked. “I’d like to get dressed now.”I need you to leave before I reach out for you when I shouldn’t.I dated enough bad guys to last a lifetime.

Liam jerked his head quickly and rubbed his eyebrows. Exhaling, he said, “Yes, that’s a good idea.”

His gruff tone rolled over my spine. My private parts tingled as I shut the bathroom door.

My limbs felt like Jell-O as I caught my breath. What was happening? He unraveled me with a few words and those sharp, gorgeous eyes. It’s never been this magnetic between us before. But I’d never let myself be around him alone until lately.

As I stepped into a pair of panties and bra, I shouted through the door, “You can leave. I promise to eat the food.”

He can’t see how much he affects me.

There was a lengthy silence as I slipped on my pants, then shirt. I wanted to believe he was gone, but I never heard the door shut.

“I wanted to check,” he finally said.
