“I’d rather taste you,” I whispered. Her arousal spoke to my senses. I bet her clit ached to be rubbed and licked. I didn’t dare pull my face away from her neck. Most likely, my eyes had turned coal black. “Can I?”

She nodded vehemently. And that was all the confirmation I needed before setting her down. Hooking my arm over her shoulder and keeping my face hidden, I led us out the back door. Rupert opened the door and ushered us to the bus with a few other bodyguards. Several young teens and women had found their way to the private parking area. It was a bigger, more populated stadium, and it showed. A swarm of paparazzi surrounded us. More cameras flashed. While they were always around, it was hard to push past them that night. Jayne held my face to her neck with one hand. She used her free hand to hold her phone up to her face.

“Who is she?” someone asked.

The questions and screams kept coming.

“So pretty! Is she your girlfriend?”

“I love you, Liam!”

“Please, can I get an autograph?”

“Isn’t she your manager?”

The world would soon discover the mystery girl beside me. I shouldn’t let the world see her, but I was so tired of living in fear. I wanted every living or undead soul to see who my heart belonged to. They’d never understand how long I waited for her to be brave enough to handle all my truths. That didn’t matter. They knew she was mine, and I was hers.

And for me, those kinds of feelings were eternal. I wanted everyone to see how honored I was to have my heartbeat girl, so I scooped her up. Cradling me with both her arms, she pushed her head against mine as Rupert opened the bus door. I squeezed her tight. Her willingness to accept and protect me from the eyes of everyone else was so beautiful. Like her. My stomach twisted as she continued to shield my face from the flashes. I didn’t need her protection, but I’d die to keep her safe.

Chapter Twenty-Six

JAYNE

The commotion was loud outside the bus. The cameras flashed, lighting up the windows. I didn’t know whether Liam was brooding, but he plopped down on the couch and dragged me onto his lap. Wrapping his arms around me, he hadn’t spoken, let alone taken a bite out of me yet, but he tapped his boot rapidly and kept his face squished between my breasts until his bandmates joined us a few minutes later.

Raising his head, Liam said, “Tell Chris to take us to the motel.”

I blinked, then jumped out of his lap. “You can’t. The backstage passes.”

Liam yanked me back down. “Pete and Steve can handle them. I can’t leave you.”

I thrust my wrist into his face. “Drink, and then greet your fans.”

Liam pushed my wrist aside. “It’s not going to be like that. Once we start, we’ll be awhile.” His blackened orbs awakened those electric pulses of need, and my pussy clenched. He had a habit of looking scary when he wanted something. That increased my desire for him. Maybe something was wrong with me.

“Liam’s right. He’s too intense right now.” Steve watched us. “Believe me, it will be impossible for him to drag himself away from you once he gets a taste.”

“I don’t think it’s a good idea for us to leave Liam alone with her.” Pete's brows furrowed as he looked at Liam.

Liam stiffened, his arms tightening around me as he glared at them. “She’s safe with me.”

“But wait! Why would you say that?” I asked Pete.

“Attachment for us…” Pete shrugged, as if unsure how to explain it. “I don’t know. Feelings for someone—”

“We’ve heard it’s supposed to be stronger for us. No clue if it’s true. We’re kind of winging this thing with you,” Steve admitted with a frown. “Something feels different around you than anyone else.”

“Steve,” Liam snarled.

“Face it, Liam, you’re not the only one that’s drawn to her. Your feelings just seem to be on a much deeper scale,” Pete said.

“What?” I squirmed as I looked back and forth between the three of them. What were they talking about? It wasn’t like I did anything for them to be so protective of me. The last two weeks were the most I’d spoken to them. Was it something from their past? The thing Liam planned to tell me? It made me warm and fuzzy inside to have them care so much, but why?

“You’re the only person we’ve lingered around besides Marilyn,” Steve said, adding to the confusion.

Pete glared at Steve before saying, “But with you, it’s a choice. Something we never had with Marilyn, so Steve shouldn’t have compared Jayne to her.”

Through gritted teeth, Liam said, “She’s nothing like Marilyn. Can you go? The screaming is grating on my nerves outside.”
