“I can practically see it finished.”

“And?”

“It’s perfect.”

I move in closer and lean onto the wall separating us. “So would you say this is a place you could see yourself living?”

I smile when her beautiful eyes widen in a surprised way as she tries her best to hide it.

“You're counting how many steps it is to the front door right now aren’t you?”

“No,” she laughs. “I wasn’t expecting that question.”

“And I freaked you out?”

Kyra rounds the wall and steps in closer to me. “I’m not freaked,” she is so beautiful and adorable. “Surprised,” she shrugs.

“Surprised, but…”

“But living here with you would be a dream.” She tips her chin upward, her eyes locked with mine. “I didn’t plan for you.”

Kissing my jaw she wraps her arms around my waist.

“I watched my mother go from one guy to the next, never truly loving any of them. They were nothing more than a means to what she really needed. They were a stepping stone to the next, and nothing more. I barely remember my Grandfather, because he passed away when I was young. I’ve never seen love in its true form, Garrett. I’ve never known what it was like to have the love of a man until you.”

I burrow in, nuzzling her neck.

“I love you,” I say into the crease of her neck. “I love everything about you.”

“You might change your mind after you move me in here and are forced to face all my crazy on a daily and nightly basis.”

“Not a chance babe,” she just doesn’t get it. “You say that you didn’t plan for me, but Kyra I was planning for you. I knew I wanted you. Hell, I knew I wanted you more than twelve years ago, and then I got my chance, and you knocked me flat on my ass. Every day with you is better than yesterday and I can barely wait for tomorrow. I plan on loving you for the rest of our lives. So this is me, telling you that I’m building this house for us. This is our beginning.”

Kyra’s eyes fill with tears.

“So now would be the time to tell me anything special you want added.”

“I have a say?”

“Anything you want,” I tell her. “This is just a house without you. You’ll make it a home, coming home to you, that’s what I want. I’d do it anywhere, Kyra.”

“I’d love a window seat,” she says, “one that overlooks the beautiful view. One that I can fill with big fluffy pillows, and curl up in with a good book.”

“Is that all?”

She shakes her head.

“What else?”

“A kitchen made for baking.”

“Baby, this is a given. That’s been in the plans from the start,” her smile grows. “I know the way to my girl's heart.”

“Have I told you today how much I love you?”

Cupping her face, I tilt her chin upward. “That is something I’ll never get tired of hearing.”

“I love you,” Kyra whispers right before my lips touch hers. “I love you; I love you, I lo—,”
