“Of course, I’ll marry you, Jonny. I love you.”

The honest way she gazes at me, the innocent smile of an angel and the woman who has given me the greatest gift in the world, makes my own heart so full I could move mountains today.

“I love you too, darlin’.” I grin and peer down at my baby, who is sucking noisily and smile with so much love in my heart it may burst.

“I love you too, little one.”

I gently stroke her head with one rough finger and conclude that this is my perfect moment. Where all the shit I have gone through matters and yet I wouldn’t change a thing because ultimately everything that happened brought us to this point.

I hate to leave them, but I head downstairs to fix us coffee and as I familiarize myself with our gleaming new kitchen, I thank the Reapers from the bottom of my heart. There is no better life for my family than here. I already know that, but I’m still not certain that Faith will see it this way when she gets the tour later today.

With a deep sigh, I reach for the mugs and wonder if I should warn her of the depravation that happens in the huge bar at the end of the day. I’m almost fearful of what lies in wait because there are many men and women living at the Rubicon who enjoy what’s on offer here a little too much.

The morning is spent being a family and I’m loving every minute of it.

When there’s a knock on the door, I’m amazed to find we’re not even dressed yet and Faith stares at me with horrified eyes. “Oh God, don’t open the door, Jonny.”

I love her so much in that silk barely there nightdress, I wish she could wear it all day, but I just cock my head to the stairs with a resigned, “I’ll answer it. You head upstairs and change.”

She smiles gratefully and then with a check on Hope who is sleeping, yet again, in her stroller, she heads upstairs like a rocket as I head toward the door.

Ashton and Bonnie stand outside with knowing grins on their faces when they see me bare-chested and wearing nothing but my Calvin’s.

“Heavy night?” Bonnie grins and Ashton giggles as I run my fingers through my hair and stand to one side.

“I don’t know what you mean.” I wink as they pass and Ashton says in her soft drawl, “We thought Faith may appreciate a tour. It’s such a lovely day, and she could use some fresh air.”

“Sure, she’s just getting ready. She won’t be long.”

Bonnie glances at her watch. “It’s midday.” Her eyes are wide, and Ashton says quickly, “When I had Caspian, sometimes I never dressed all day. Babies take up so much of your time and when they sleep you make use of that time to, well, to get organized.”

She blushes a little and Bonnie laughs out loud. “Then don’t tell Snake, or I’ll remain childless forever.”

We glance up as Faith heads down the stairs in a gorgeous cornflower blue sundress, and I don’t believe I have ever seen her look as pretty. Her hair is secured in a band behind her neck and her eyes are bright with happiness. I even forget we have visitors and can’t resist heading her way and pulling her into my arms, kissing her softly as I grip on to the ponytail, vowing to make use of this later.

She pushes me away, her face burning, and the girls laugh when she whispers, “Fuck, Jonny, we have visitors.”

She nods toward my growing interest in her and, laughing, I say over my shoulder, “I’ll leave you girls to it. Don’t keep her too long.”

Their laughter follows me upstairs and when I reach the top, I hear Faith say breathlessly, “I’m so sorry, what must you think of us?”

It makes me smile at my innocent angel and then grin as Bonnie says loudly, “Man, that was nothing. If we have visitors, they may get more than just an eyeful when Snake is horny.”

Ashton giggles and I can only imagine the expression on Faith’s face because she will not be used to this. She has probably never been around women like Bonnie, and I thank Ryder for sending his wife with her because Ashton is the sweetest angel shining at the top of the Rubicon tree, keeping the air pure and somehow managing to deal with the biggest bastard in here. If anyone can educate my old lady, she is the perfect one for the job.

CHAPTER33

FAITH

It feels so good walking around this place in the bright sunlight with two women who couldn’t have been more welcoming. As I push the stroller with Hope sleeping like an angel, Ashton says wistfully, “Man, this makes me broody.”

Bonnie nods. “I’m always broody these days.”

“What’s stopping you then?” Ashton says curiously and I note the resignation on Bonnie’s face.

“Snake wants kids like tomorrow, but I’ve only just qualified as an interior designer and want to establish my business first. I told him next year would be convenient.”

Ashton catches my eye and shakes her head.
