His lips came down on mine. Soon, I was lost to the passion as his tongue slid against mine. My hands dug into his hair, and I forced myself to end the kiss.

His expression took my breath away. “Do you remember when I said I had chosen to trust you?”

Raising an eyebrow, I studied him. “I remember that you tricked me.”

He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a tape. “I’m trusting you with this evidence. It’s the only copy. You can do whatever you want with it. I’m gifting it to you.”

What? As a don’s son, he knows the kind of power this could be and the leverage I could command with it. His father would kill him for this.

“Why would you give this to me instead of your father?” Taking the tape, I slid it into my pocket.

“It’s to help you trust me. It’s a grand gesture to show you that I’m on your side. I know why you want revenge and I'll help you get it.”

There’s no way he could know about the rape.

My mouth shut. A cold shiver ran up my spine and my stomach dropped. I looked away from him so that I could regain my composure. “I don't know what you're talking about.”

“Yes, you do.”

I was already flushed against the wall, so I pushed at his shoulders. It was like using a feather to move a boulder.

Mikhail cleared his throat. “I hate to interrupt but we must get out of here. There’s too many dead bodies and not enough eyes on the perimeter for us to linger any longer.”

Cian handed him three tapes. “Copy these, I’ll need one of them to take back with me.”

Frowning, I looked from Cian to Mikhail. “Why would you go back? Your father is on his way and liable to shoot me on site. Why are you still going back into the lion’s den?

He caressed my cheek. “I must take care of something. Keep yourself safe until I return.”

This is ridiculous. He wasn’t giving them all the tapes. When he doesn’t deliver Mikhail, he’s a dead man. There was no reason to take that kind of risk.

Grabbing his arm, I turned him to face me. “I called your dad. He's on his way. You can’t protect me from him if you allow Le to kill you. There’s no reason to go back there. Whatever you think your reason is, wait until your father’s army gets him; then go in strong.”

“Damn. I’d better be quick. You must have it bad for me if you called my father. Don’t believe Ben, my father isn’t so bad.”

“It wasn’t Ben, Liam told me that himself.”

Cian placed a kiss on my forehead.

Mikhail shook his head. “no one tells Liam what to do. Wait here while I copy these.”

He disappeared the same way we entered the house.

Licking my lips, I cupped his face. “Please don’t do this. The Vietnamese mafia can be unpredictable. You have no reason to risk your life like this. You know that they don’t have me or any leverage on you at all. Remember pride comes before the fall.”

“Don’t worry, I don’t plan to die. Your time would be better suited by trying to prepare yourself to tell me how much you care for me. This is happening.”

“This?”

He picked me up and pressed me back against the wall. “Us. You belong to me. When I take you, your mind, body, and soul will be mine. I’ll erase every man from the recesses of your mind.” His tongue glided along my lower lip before he kissed me.

Mikhail cleared his throat. “Damn get a room, and I don’t mean in this house. Anya, let’s go before Cian risks it all and takes you against the wall now.”

My face felt hot. I pushed Cian away and followed Mikhail out of the house. I was like a zombie on Star Trek. I went back through the underground tunnel to the house. Jetmira was already in the garage waiting for us. Without a word, I slid into the backseat. If she was surprised that we were leaving without Cian she hadn’t shown it.

She elbowed me in the ribs. “Are you going to answer him?”

“I didn't hear the question.” Shaking my head, I tried to focus on them.
