“Rae, do you need anything?” Sasha asked after taking a big gulp of water. I looked at her with curiosity.
“No, I’m good. How are you doing?” I leaned over and fluffed one side of her afro. I leaned back and took a good look at my best friend. She looked frazzled. Her pink and blue top and long flowing maxi skirt were a little wrinkled, and her lips were swollen like she’d been taking make-up tips from lip kit Kylie.
“I’m great!” Sasha replied with a little too much cheer in her voice. Although we met on the cheerleading squad back in the day, Sasha wasnotthe peppy girl.
“Sash? You got a secret to tell me?” I tried my best to hold a straight face, but when she dropped her head in her hands with a groan, I giggled because I knew she was about to tell me all of her business. Sasha Phillips could not hold water.
Before she could give me the tea, Cullen and Dove made their way over to where we were sitting. Although they were no longer required to stick to their arrangement, I couldn’t help but notice how Cullen would pop up at every event. At first, I thought he was just trying to save the McGregor’s reputation after that bat-shit crazy cousin of his tried to kill my father, but now I’m beginning to think he has his sights set on my baby sister. However, after Felicity’s foolishness, I highly doubt my father would agree to a relationship between them.
Apparently, Felicity hadn’t just been to rehab, she had also spent a considerable amount of time in a mental facility for obsessive personality disorders. The McGregor’s didn’t want to admit that their family member couldn’t be “fixed” with their drugs, so they pretended she wasn’t crazy. Meanwhile, Felicity was let loose on the unexpected Founder’s population. Felicity became fixated on “taking down” the Bishops empire after her Uncle was complaining about the business deal he’d made with my father. Turns out, she had been keeping close tabs on my father, and because she did whatever he said and seemed harmless, nobody questioned her motives for always lurking about. When she found out that I wouldn’t be marrying Cullen, she snapped, and when her plan to seduce Lennox away from me failed, she thought she would just kill my father and destroy the whole arrangement. It was weird and totally out there, but a crazy person doesn’t operate on logic. Because of the havoc Felicity caused, the McGregor’s relented to my father’s request that their arrangement is void forever. They agreed. When Felicity disappeared off the face of the Earth, the McGregor’s didn’t put up a fuss, and the Bishops pretended that her new bed was the bottom of the Founder’s Island port.
It was released to the press that my father and his longtime guard were victims of a terrible car accident. The family requested privacy while my father healed and to grieve our loss of such a valuable member of our staff. All the medical records substantiated the accident, and nobody asked any questions.
I noticed the shift in atmosphere when Cullen made a b-line to the other side of the room when my parents entered. I also noticed when my husband reentered the room. He stood eyeing Cullen like he was about to punch him in the throat. He’s so jealous.I smirked at Lennox when he winked.
When my parents finally approached me with a sullen looking Robin in tow to say hello, I pasted on a fake smile and sucked up my attitude. I could see the question on Lennox’s face, ready to jump in and save me at my say so, but I shook my head. I could handle my family, and although we exchanged hugs and small talk, the air was filled with tension and awkward as hell. I hated putting on airs, but it was par for course when you were a Bishops. We never aired our dirty laundry in public, and we wouldn’t start now. It was something else I put on my list for my therapist.
Lennox let them have three minutes before he was by my side, rubbing my belly bump lovingly. He kissed my temple, and I smiled up at him.
“You look like a swirl of pink cotton candy in that dress, Princess.” Lennox licked his lips, and I knew what he was going to say as the words crossed his mind.
“Don’t you get me all hot and bothered in front of all of our family and friends.” I pushed away from him with a scowl. Anytime he even mentioned the word sex, my core would drip. It was like another damned superpower he developed since my seven-week of pregnancy.
“But, don’t you want your husband’s big dick, Princess?” Lennox smiled wide.
I was going to kill him!
* * *
There was nothing like an angry, hot, and horny, pregnant woman. I knew that there was a special place in hell for me, but I could never let an opportunity to fuck my wife slide. Even if we were in public at our baby shower.
It wasn’t easy to slip in the back of the venue into a small office, but I managed it. When I finished pleasuring Raven, she was as good as gold for the rest of the event. She already had her pregnancy glow, but after sex, the glow was otherworldly.
“Why are you watching your wife like a stalker?” Sawyer’s gruff voice came from beside me. I chuckled. Fuck my brother, I could stalk my wife if I wanted to.
“It’s not stalking when you’re married. Stalking is what you do to Sasha.” I smirked as I sipped my drink. I pretended it was just soda because Raven couldn’t drink, and she let me pretend because I gave good D.
Sawyer scowled as he watched Sasha talk to Caerwyn Hale. The guy was nice, but I heard he had his eyes on a sexy little banker with glasses. I could tell my brother, but he was forever giving me shit, so I would let him suffer.
At that moment, as I watched my brother helplessly watch as the woman he wanted stayed out of his reach, I was glad that I never had to experience that for myself. I may not have chosen her to be my bride, but I definitely wanted her as my wife. As my brother’s eyes scanned everything about the woman standing across the room, I knew that his pulse was rising, and his heart was beating out of his chest because that was the same way I felt every time I looked at my Princess.
THE END.
