“What about if you are completely healed and sensation is returned to normal?”
“Uh... any marking?”
He smiled for the first time. “You can mark me up all you want. So, is that a yes?”
“Yes. I will need some time to get off the monitoring from the centre.”
“Just like that?”
She started to edge her dress down her thighs. “Yes. Does it have to be complicated?”
“No. May I help you up?”
“Uh, okay.”
He gently helped her to her feet and held her against him for a moment. “My name is Clark by the way.”
“Oh. Right. Uh, Ula.” She stared up into his eyes. “Should we shake hands or something?”
“What about a kiss, Ula?”
“Are you sure you don’t have a current lover that is going to take more skin off?”
“I am positive. It was a criterion that Delun was specific about.” He leaned in and kissed her.
Clark brushed his lips against hers slowly until she mimicked him and pressed her palms against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her lower back. She felt warm and protected, and he tasted sweet. His scent got stronger as they remained pressed together, and his tongue stroked hers as their kiss edged toward violent.
She finally pulled back, panting. It took her a few tries to speak. “Right. Okay. I guess you are going to need a way to find me, and let me know when you are available.”
He reached up and ran his thumb across her lower lip. “Asking for my number? How cute.”
She shook her head. “I would give you mine. I don’t want to call you. I wouldn’t wreck your privacy that way.”
His eyes showed his amusement. “Fair enough. I am doing you a service.”
“No jokes about servicing me. Please.”
He took out his phone, and she dug hers out of her purse, brought up her number, and showed it to him.
He chuckled and just unlocked his phone, handing it over. She put her name and number in then handed the phone over to him. He took a quick picture of her and then her car.
“Uh, so... thanks.” She nodded and clutched her bag with both hands.
He ruffled her pastel hair. “Have a good evening, Ula.”
She sprinted to her car and got in. He waited until she was driving away before starting his own vehicle.
She drove home quietly, stopping for drive-thru on the way. When she got home, she checked the messages, and there wasn’t anything from building management or the charity yet. She was in the clear for one more day. Only four days left of day camp.
Chapter Two
Ula spoke with Harmon at lunch the next day. “So, can you thank your uncle for me? I think it is going to be helpful.”
Harmon’s shoulders slumped. “You aren’t mad?”
“No. A month or so, and he says he can fix it.” Ula smiled.
“Cool. So, the other one will be here today.”
