“Merry! Run the names,” Jagger ordered.
Without hesitation, she headed to the living room where her laptop was, so she could do just that.
Everyone followed.
“Okay, I get it. Let me do my thing and see what I can find, okay?”
She got to work when Remington handed her the paper that he’d had in his pocket from Calyx.
Elizabeth needed to talk to Gamble. She had to talk him into therapy.
“I’m going to grab some lunch for Gamble and go have a talk with him to break the news that he’s going to have to start therapy. When you guys get something, let me know.”
They would.
As she left to go make him food, Merry worked. On MATE, they all saw the searches and watched as the system got them intel.
It didn’t take long.
It was maybe five minutes max.
She broke it down for them since Elizabeth wasn’t far away in the kitchen.
Loudly, she shared what she found.
“Okay, we have the first person. Silas Marx is a real winner,” she said. “He’s got two consecutive sentences under his belt for drug running and assault with a deadly. He did fifteen years, and he’s been off the radar for the last few months.”
“Meaning?” Stella asked, rubbing her belly as she got comfy on the couch.
Merry explained.
“There has been no check-in with his parole officer in that time. That was right about the timeline where Artemis began her fuckery here,” Merry said.
Oh, she was right.
That wouldn’t be a coincidence.
“Last address?” Jagger asked.
She rattled it off.
They were going to have to look into that at some point, in case he was there. Only, if he didn’t check in for his parole…he was likely already gone.
“Who is next?” Maura asked.
She researched the second name on the list from Calyx.
“Next we have Milo Hix,” Merry said, pulling up what she could on him so that they could see him.
Then, she got an idea.
“Do you think I could make MATE do that thing Elizabeth did so I can just talk to it and use my hands?” she whispered. “It makes me feel all high-tech with the holograms. Like we’re in a sci-fi movie.”
How was the Major supposed to know? High tech for her was a garage door opener.
“I don’t know,” Maura said. “Try.”
She gave it a shot.
