I felt safe and peaceful but fear quickly took over and I took a step back.

“I will see you tomorrow,” Nick said and kissed my cheek.

“Good night, Nick,” I said and smiled back at him.

He quickly left and I noticed Annie had already gone to her room. I heard Gabriel in the kitchen, and I walked over to him. He was loading the dishwasher and putting away leftovers from dinner.

“Do you need any help?” I asked him.

He turned to me and smiled. “No, thank you. Go to bed. I will finish this and lock up.”

“Okay. Good night, Gabriel.”

“Good night, Aria.”

I went upstairs and took a shower before climbing into my bed.

Tomorrow I will find out anything I could about Claudia. And I knew just the person who could help me do that. Ian.

CHAPTER NINETEEN – Asking For Help

Gabriel’s POV

I woke up to the sound of knocking on my bedroom door.

“What?” I grunted, not wanting to get up.

“Get up, man,” I heard Nick’s voice. “We have to start searching.”

I grunted again and sat up in my bed. We agreed to go to my grandma’s old study and our library and find everything we can about Victor and Cora. If he was politically active there should be some records about him. We have to start somewhere.

“What time is it?” I asked and got up.

“8:30 am.”

“Too early,” I complained.

He laughed. “Don’t be a pussy. Go do your morning stuff and I’ll see you at your grandma’s study. I’ll start looking.”

I brushed my teeth and hopped in the shower. I put on a pair of sweats and a hoodie and went down to the kitchen.

I made two cups of coffee and took them to the study.

Nick already had two books in front of him.

“Anything?” I asked and handed him his cup of coffee.

“Nothing much,” he responded, not looking up from the book in front of him. “Go to the library and bring any books that could have something about him.”

I nodded and walked out.

Half an hour later there were at least fifteen books stacked up on the desk in front of Nick. I grabbed one and started reading it.

Anything that seemed useful I passed on to Nick. The books were mostly about politics and law and that was Nick’s turf. He had a law degree, but he was not currently using it. Well, unless hunting down Victor counts. Then he was definitely using it.

If Victor was into destroying the world with machines, that would be my turf. I was planning on going to college to study mechanical engineering. I was into different kinds of laws. Unfortunately, those laws didn’t help at the moment.

“Have you found anything?” I asked Nick after a while.
