Myles stepped toward the two outsiders, dropping the bag of drugs at his feet. “Money first,” he demanded, leaving no room for argument before holding out his hand expectantly.

Rocky’s lips twitched in amusement before he met Myles half-way and dropped the bag at his feet, ignoring his hand. I watched with bated breath as Myles stiffened, afraid he was going to do something stupid. He flexed his fingers at his sides, but then grabbed the bag and tossed it to Foster who started sifting through it to make sure it was all there.

“All there,” Foster confirmed.

Myles nodded before tossing the drugs at Rocky’s feet, where he handed it to Jax to go through.

“Nice doin business with ya’ll.” Rocky smirked, plucking a toothpick from behind his ear and inserting it in his mouth.

Hillbilly motherfucker.

Jax shot us a wink before lighting up a cigarette and taking a long pull of it. They both turned on their heels, stalking off in the wrong direction like they had a stick up their ass or some shit.

As soon as they were out of earshot, Foster whirled on us, his mask slipping again as he let his rage show. “You were late,” he growled, pinning his gaze on Hunter even though we were late because of me.

“It wasn’t our fault,” Hunter said with an eye roll. “Madison—”

“Don’t,” he roared, causing me to flinch from the aggression. Foster didn’t freak out like this often, which let me know he was really pissed off. “It was your job to get here on time. Throw the bitch out by her hair if you have to, but don’t ever make excuses.”

My lip peeled back in a snarl as I assessed him. Now was not the time for him to act all high and mighty. Anger burrowed its way through me like a tsunami. That, and all the bullshit I’d endured today was enough to send me over the fucking edge.

“Quit acting like you’re so goddamn perfect all the time,” I growled. Foster glanced over at me in surprise. Very rarely did I ever speak out, but it needed to be done. “If you ever knew what dealing with a chick was like, you’d also know that getting rid of them doesn’t happen so fast. But don’t act like you’re above us just because the only orgasm you’ve ever had came from your hand.”

Myles barked a laugh, earning himself a glare from Foster, whose eyes bounced right back to me—anger swimming within his blue orbs. He blew out a shaky breath, and to my surprise, nodded. To say that was out of character for him would be an understatement. Foster was easily the most temperamental out of all of us—though Hunter was a close second.

“Maybe I overreacted,” he agreed, running a hand through his dirty blonde hair. “But it’s important we’re all here during deals. Anything could have happened.”

Hunter and I both nodded in unison. His feelings were valid. Rocky and Jax couldn’t be trusted, and had they decided to bring more of their crew with them today, Foster and Myles would have been outnumbered.

“Let’s just get something to eat,” Hunter insisted. “I’m starving.”

We didn’t argue often, but every once in a while, it was inevitable. Some of us had such contrasting personalities it was a wonder we were even friends at all.

We followed behind Hunter in silence, until we were stepping out of the woods altogether and making our way toward the academy.

Myles and Hunter started arguing about something stupid, and I found myself tuning them out as we approached the cafeteria on the other side of campus. As they continued to goof off, my mind took a path of its own, leading me back to the blonde I’d kicked out of my room only an hour ago. She usually sat with me at lunch, and I had a feeling that she had no intention of crawling back to me as she’d done many times before. Despite these conflicting feelings, I didn’t want her back. Not for the reasons I should have anyways.

There had to be something wrong with me. Madison was a gorgeous girl. She was curvy in all the right places, had plump lips, long blonde hair. She was literally my dream girl on paper.

I released a heavy sigh before following the guys to our usual table. I slipped into the seat across from Foster, my head a jumbled mess.

“I’m going to drop this off in our spot.” Myles winked, gesturing to the bag of cash he still had possession of. He didn’t wait for a reply before he left us alone.

Foster was a huge history buff. For some unknown reason, he was obsessed with it. Within the first few months he was here, he’d found a book in the library about the history of this place. Come to find out, this used to be a castle of sorts until it was broken up into sections and created into a school for the troubled.

This obviously intrigued Foster, and he was adamant about doing as much research on this place as he could. In the book, it talked about tunnels and secret passageways where they used to have meetings and torture sinners. Foster ripped out all the pages of secret passageways and whatnot, and hunted for them all over the damn place, making us assist him. Eventually, we found them and made them our own.

We never brought people there unless we wanted to go full on torture mode. The cellar worked just fine for quick lessons we instilled in people. The cellar was also a lot easier to lure people to. Imagine snatching someone up and expecting them to be quiet while we drug them through the damn school or library.

People typically left us alone, and we didn’t have to go to such extreme measures, but

there was always an occasion where we needed to. That usually served me just fine, but lately…I was yearning for someone to fucking test me. Ironically, I was supposed to be the more normal one out of our group. But if I was actually normal, I wouldn’t be here.I wanted to torture someone. Anyone. Preferably someone who deserved it; I just didn’t know who that would be yet.

Chapter 7

Aspen

My chest tightened with unease as I made my way to English. The day as a whole had been uneventful, and I was hoping it would stay that way. Especially when the alternative happened to be much, much worse.
