She sucked his dick? Hunter let her after everything we talked about? After everything happened with Collin and Myles?

Jessica’s face reddened and her eyes flashed with fury. I guess this was news to her too. Before she could say anything else, the elevator doors slid open and Aspen shoulder checked her as she drifted past her. My head was still reeling as I worked to process this new information.

I guess Jess decided to take the stairs because she shot one last glare at Aspen before sauntering away.

The elevator ride was silent, and it remained that way as we exited the building and ventured into the cafeteria. As soon as we stepped foot into the bustling building, all eyes seemed to swivel to us. My throat tightened from the lingering looks, and I knew what they all had to be thinking.

“Everyone’s staring,” she whispered as the noise slowly died down.

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I nodded. “Let them.” I wasn’t as confident in that statement as I pretended to be. When my gaze caught Raven’s red hair from across the room, I looked back at the girl beside me. “Go sit with your friends,” I ordered. “And don’t leave the cafeteria.”

Her eyebrows shot up into her hairline as surprise filtered through her. “Really?” she asked in disbelief. “Why?”

“Do you need a reason?” I growled. “Go.”

She opened her mouth like she wanted to say something but thought better of it and spun on her heels before I could change my mind. I knew that if she sat with us after that public display of us walking in together then people would stare all through breakfast and I wasn’t sure if I could handle hearing the gossip for the next half hour.

Holding her against her will and keeping her from a social life wasn’t what I wanted. It was genuinely to keep tabs on her. However, if I wasn’t careful, it could easily become an addiction. The need to control things around me was what fed the monster inside me. It made me content—like as long as I had control, then nothing could go wrong and if it did, then it was my fault. No one else’s.

I continued the short walk to my table and slipped into the seat between Collin and Hunter. Despite my stomach growling, I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat if I got food. Maybe I’d stop at the vending machine in between classes later. All I could think about was Aspen, and I hated it. Her body was so…flawless to me. The way her nipples tightened beneath my touch had my cock twitching to life right now from the mere memory of it. The feel of her creamy, white skin had me sucking in a sharp breath to keep from taking her right there. I wanted more. And it terrified me to my fucking core.

For as long as I could remember, I hated the female race. I believed all girls were callous, that they deserved nothing but pain and misery. What if it wasn’t true? What if…there were girls out there who weren’t as vicious as I made them out to be in my head? On one hand, Aspen has never shown me another side of her, and she could very well be a malicious monster. On the other hand, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to her under the façade she kept in place. Why did I want to know? Why the hell did I even care? That’s what terrified me.

“You okay?” Collin questioned from beside me, plopping a tater tot into his mouth.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” I snapped a little too harshly, raising questioning looks from around the table.

“What?” Myles cut in, unable to help himself. “Did the little girl give you a run for your money?” His lips twisted into a sadistic grin as his gaze raked over my appearance, settling on the dark circles beneath my eyes from the lack of sleep I’d gotten.

Collin’s face scrunched up with disgust. “Little girl?” he repeated. “Why say it like that?”

Ignoring him, Hunter started to look around the room. “Speaking of the little bitch, where the hell is she?”

Madison chose that moment to drop into Collin’s lap and Jessica’s earlier words echoed around my head. Were they official now, or was it just a one-sided thing? “Who?” she questioned, snuggling into her boyfriend. Collin smiled as if he was genuinely happy to see her.

“Aspen,” he replied, burying his face in the crook of her neck and inhaling her jasmine-scented perfume. How he wasn’t gagging was beyond me.

“Why are you looking for her?” Her mouth tightened as she glanced over at Hunter with accusation. Collin squeezed her hip reassuringly. This seemed to do the trick because she relaxed back into him as he plucked another tater tot from his plate.

No one bothered answering her, we just resumed eating, not wanting Madison to know what we were really up to.

By the time breakfast was wrapping up, Collin took initiative and steered Madison back to his room, giving Myles the perfect opportunity to swoop in and snatch the purple-haired vixen since it was his turn tonight.

“You got it?” I asked Myles, moving to stand. I knew he was more than capable of handling himself, but there was always a chance something would trigger him, and he’d end up taking it too far. Aspen wasn’t exactly an easy person to control.

He scoffed, rolling his eyes. “What kind of question is that? Of course I do.”

Dropping my voice to a whisper, I stepped forward, making sure that only he and Hunter could hear me. “No stabbing her, no breaking any bones, no fucking her or penetrating her in any way—” I shot him a pointed look, knowing he’d try to find a loophole if I failed to make myself abundantly clear. “If she becomes too hard to contain, just lock her up and do what you want as long as these rules are followed.”

“What happened to me getting to call the shots?” he retorted, gaze darkening, indicating that he didn’t like this one bit.

Sighing, I ran a hand over my face and through my bangs, pushing them back out of my face. “It’s just for now. I promise.”

He rolled his eyes. I’m not sure why my rules bothered him so much anyways. He never followed them. Sometimes he tried to, other times he just said fuck it and did whatever he wanted.

“Fine,” he agreed—though it wasn’t convincing at all.

Glancing over to Hunter I incline my head toward the exit. “Come on,” I urged.
