Lowering my gun, Kansas rushed over along with two other brothers, as Kansas carefully took Kali out of my arms.

“Fuck, he’s got a stomach wound. He needs a hospital now.”

“So does Kali. Fucker sliced her neck again.”

“I shot them,” I mumbled. “Ran out back.”

“FIND THEM!” Kansas shouted as my world darkened.

I woke to a beautiful sight.

My sister Faith smiled at me.

“I’m not dead, am I?”

Faith grinned. “Not yet, but if you do that shit again, I will kill you. You scared the crap out of me, Zeke.”

“How long have I been out?”

“Two days,” Faith informed. “Balthazar knows. He’s not happy with you. Said as soon as you could to call or he will visit.”

I grimaced. “That’s not good.”

“No, it’s not.”

“Is he awake?” I heard Hope yawn from somewhere in the room.

“Yeah,” Faith smiled, getting to her feet as Hope pushed past her and flung herself at me.

Groaning, she flinched, trying to move away. Stopping her, I shook my head. “Just lay down with me, sis, and hold me.”

“Such a big baby,” Hope chuckled, but did as I asked.

“Where is Charity?”

“I’m here, Zeke,” she replied off to my left. Turning my head, I saw she was standing with Nevil, the geek, who nodded at me.

Narrowing my eyes, I growled, and the fucking punk chuckled, shaking his head.

“Still don’t like me, do ya?”

“Nope,” I replied. The door opened and in walked Kansas, pushing Kali in a wheelchair. She looked good.

Faith slowly got to her feet. “I won’t let you hurt him. He was only trying to help Kali.”

Kali looked up at Kansas and asked, “What is she talking about, Kansas?”

“He wants to kill our brother,” Charity said, moving protectively closer to me.

Kansas sighed. “I’m not going to hurt your brother.”

“Promise?” Hope, the last sister, asked.

“Kansas would never,” Kali said, slowly rolling the wheelchair closer to the bed before Kansas could stop her. “Your brother saved my life. That’s a debt I’ll never be able to repay. I give you my word.”

“You can’t promise that, Jinx” I whispered, using Kole’s nickname to address her. It only seemed fitting. “Only the President of the club can decree that.”

“If he knows what’s good for him, he will,” Kali growled, turning her head to look at her husband.
