“You are my baby girl. I was so happy when you were born. All I ever wanted was a little girl I could dress up, talk with, have fun with, but you never were mine. From the moment you broke yourself from the bottle, I knew you were your own person. So strong headed and independent. Hell, Sarah, you broke yourself from the crib and even potty trained yourself. I could dress you up in all the pretty dresses I could find, but that didn’t stop you from rolling around in the mud or getting your hands dirty with your dad. You’ve always gone your own way. I realize that now. Instead of supporting you, I tried to contain you. For that, I am sorry, baby. The woman you’ve become is so strong. I’ve never been prouder of the woman you are today.”

Tears streamed down my face as my mom’s words sunk into my soul.

I’d waited so long to hear her say those words and before I knew it I was hugging my mom, crying happily, overjoyed that she finally understood the woman I wanted to be.

Sniffing, I released her and gasped, “Oh mom. I’m so sorry!”

Looking at my mom’s shirt, now covered in grease, I listened as she laughed.

Blushing, I handed her my grease rag. “I’ll pay for it to be cleaned.”

“No, you won’t,” my mom quickly said. “I’m going to wear this shirt proudly and if anyone asks, I’m going to tell them how proud I am of my mechanic daughter. Now, remember what I said. Take it easy and don’t lift anything heavy. You’ve got my grandbaby in your belly and I don’t want anything happening to her.”

“Her?”

My mom nodded. “It’s a girl. I know it.”

Smiling, I nodded. “That would be sweet, wouldn’t it?”

“You bet-cha. Now, I need to go. You need me. Call.”

“Yes ma’am.”

Chapter Twenty

Gunner

“What do you mean, he’s gone?”

I’d been face-timing with King for the last ten minutes and he waited until now to drop the bomb.

What the fuck?!

“I don’t know what to tell you, Gunner. We’ve looked everywhere. He’s not here. Sypher located his servers in a storage facility he rents near the college. We’ve confiscated them all and alerted the local authorities, but the fucker is nowhere to be seen. I don’t know what more we can do.”

“Find the son of a bitch!” I roared. “He took pictures of my woman naked and uploaded them to the internet. Fucker is making money off my woman’s body! If Sarah finds out, she’ll be mortified!”

“Look Gunner. The fucker has to show up sometime. The authorities are aware of him now. They will take over searching for him. We are coming home.”

I grunted.

“Fine.”

“How are things at the clubhouse? Everyone on their feet?”

I nodded. “Yeah. All but Scribe, but Claudia said she’ll be releasing him sometime today.”

“And Sarah?”

“She’s better. She’s in the garage right now, working on an oil change.”

King laughed. “Gotta admit brother, never saw that one coming. You’ve got yourself a winner there. A hot babe and grease monkey all rolled into one.”

“Yeah, I know,” I muttered, rubbing my neck as a loud commotion grabbed my attention. Getting up from behind King’s desk, I walked out of his office and towards the common room to see Scribe slapping at Bailey’s hands. “I’m not an invalid woman!”

“Shut the fuck up, Scribe. I’m just helping!”

“Helping me into an early grave!” Scribe roared back. “Fuck woman, you damn near killed me on the way home. Who the hell taught you to drive?”
