He sounds a low groan. “Now you’re just tormenting me.”

“I’m all wet, and naked, and wet…” I tease, lifting one leg out of the suds, and stretching, watching the bubbles slide down my skin.

“Tell me,” he demands. “Tell me where your hands are.”

“You decide.” I breathe, feeling a shiver of anticipation. “Where do you want them to be?”

“On your breasts,” Saint growls, and the lust in his voice makes my stomach curl. “Touch yourself. Play with your nipples.”

I do as he says, sinking back into the water, stroking and teasing the sensitive swell of my breasts. I circle my nipples, imagining it’s his hands pleasuring me, his fingers pinching the stiff peaks…

I moan aloud, and Saint hisses a breath down the line. “Fuck, Tessa…”

I smile, loving that I can have this effect on him, even when I’m not in the same room. “I want you,” I moan again. “Inside me…”

“Damn, I want that too. But you’ll just have to take care of yourself without me, won’t you, baby?” Saint’s voice is low and seductive, urging me on. “Play with your pussy for me. Stroke your clit nice and slow.”

I trail my hand lower, over my stomach, down between my legs. I find my clit, and start to stroke slowly, just like he’s telling me. Pleasure ripples through my body, radiating out from my gentle touch as I—

A noise comes from outside in the backyard. A clattering sound, close to the house.

I sit up with a splash.

“Did you hear that?” I ask, my heart suddenly racing.

“You moaning for me?” Saint replies, still smoky, but seduction is the last thing on my mind right now.

“No, there was a noise,” I tell him, climbing out of the bath. I grab a robe, and wrap it around me, moving to the window to look.

It’s dark outside, but the security lights are all shining brightly. “The lights only come on if there’s something out there, right?” I ask, trying not to panic.

“It’s probably just a fox. They’re always trying to get into the rubbish bins,” Saint says, trying to calm me.

“I swear I heard someone,” I repeat, peering around. The yard is shadowed, and I can’t see from here, but still, it’s like I can feel someone out there. Watching. “Saint, I’m not kidding around.”

“It’s alright,” Saint is immediately reassuring. “I’m logging into the security app now. Everything looks fine,” he reports a moment later. “All the doors and windows are alarmed. There’s nothing on the cameras. You’re safe, baby. I promise.”

I exhale. “OK…”

I step back from the window, and tug the curtains closed. The bath is still steaming hot, but the mood is ruined. “I think I’m just going to go to bed now,” I tell Saint. “It’s been a long day.”

“You’re not going to worry about this, are you?” Saint asks, sounding concerned. “I can drive down tonight, if you want—”

“No, I’m fine,” I insist, feeling a little foolish now. “It’s like you said, probably just a fox, or a horny raccoon.”

“Those randy bastards,” Saint agrees. “Alright, sleep tight. Call me if you need anything. Anything,” he repeats.

“I will. Goodnight.”

I hang up, looking around the empty room. I’ve been relishing the peace and quiet of being in the house alone, but now, I can’t shake the feeling of unease.

If someone is out there…

I’ve already been hurt on this mission: Stalked through the city and attacked by some creepy mystery man, who warned me to stop digging into the Blackthorn Society. Now, I wonder just how dangerous this is going to get.

The man I’m hunting has everything to lose if I expose him.

How far would he be willing to go to keep his crimes a secret?
