“I’m heading out. You all need to go home,” I said, pointing at all my brothers.
“Yes, sir!” I heard from behind me as the door closed, but it was soon followed by their laughter.

“What do you mean she never came to work?” I bellowed.
Ray flinched, which I immediately was sorry for, but I couldn’t control the temper growing inside me. My wolf wanted to be let out to run and find Jill. It needed to know she was safe.
“She never came in. And there’s no need to yell.”
I slammed my hand on the counter and sucked in a deep breath. She was right. Me fuming at her didn’t solve anything. It was time I listened to my wolf and let it out to find her.
“She’s probably at home. Maybe she got a bug or something,” Ray continued. “I really think she’s just fine.”
I stared at Ray, then stormed out. She wasn’t fine, and I knew it. Something wasn’t right.
I retraced the steps she would have taken from her home and stopped when a sweet smell hit my nose. Pac! Why was his smell here? I immediately darted for the trees and transformed before I was fully concealed. It was time to pay Pac a visit and see with my own eyes what in the world was going on.

I was halfway to Dad’s territory when I heard howling from behind me. I stopped to see Brandon and the others coming up from behind.
“Why are you headed to Dad’s?” Brandon asked in my mind, coming to a stop in front of me and blocking my way.
“I’ve missed him,” I replied sharply, swatting him with my paw.
“I don’t believe that for one second,” Jacob said, taking a nip at my ears.
“What do you guys want?” I was in a hurry, and every second was wasting time. I tried going around Brandon, but Jacob and Bruno surrounded me on either side.
“We heard you howling and thought we’d join you because if you’re going home, it can’t be good,” Brandon said.
“Plus, Dad has been in a mood, and you might need some backup,” Bruno said.
I looked at my brothers and vowed to see them more often. “Let’s go then.” We started running again and didn’t slow down until we got to the border of Dad’s territory.
“You sure you want to do this? You know what Dad’s going to ask about,” Brandon said.
I swung my head to look at him. “I have to. Something’s very wrong, and I know it’s to do with Pac.”
“Let’s go. I’m getting restless,” Bruno said.
We ran until we saw Mom standing in front of us. She was clearly waiting for us to approach. I made the change back into my human form first, my brothers following suit.
“Luc, you know with you being here, your Dad will feel challenged,” Mom said, staring me down.
“I’m not allowed to come home?” I growled.
“Not without a mate.”
“Thisisabout my mate!”
Mom’s eyes immediately glowed, and a huge smile spread across her face. “You’ve found someone? Not Kit, I hope.”
“No! It’s a woman called Jill, and she’s in trouble. I need to see Pac.”
“Pac? He’s here?” She looked at all of her sons, waiting on one of us to speak up. None of us dared. It was just like Dad to hide something like this under her nose.
