The Challenge
Edward
Groaning, I leaned back in my overstuffed chair and took a sip of my scotch. It had been an insane night, even more than what I’d expected. Taking another deep breath, I closed my eyes and tried to process everything that had happened.
A firm touch on my shoulders had me moan in pleasure as Brian’s magical fingers attempted to release the tension from the day.
“Bunny, that’s amazing,” I said, allowing my head to bow forward.
He chuckled behind. “I’ll do you, and you do me.”
“Deal, just don’t stop.”
He laughed harder but continued to work the knots that had formed. He moved in circles, varying in pressure from hard and soft. I could feel the love and concern in each of his movements, which only made me appreciate him more.
“Did you get Ali settled?” Brian asked.
“Ugh, your hands tricked me. Do you really want to talk about this evening?” I groaned.
“Come on, Eddie. We need to figure stuff out,” Brian replied, his voice gentle but firm.
I sighed and rose from my seat. “I’m going to need a refill. Do you want a drink?”
“I’ll take one,” he said, moving around and sliding into the chair I’d just vacated.
I nodded and continued to the bar. Grabbing the bottle of scotch, I poured the amber liquid and looked back at Brian. “Ali has agreed to go back to his place and stay away from Randy for the time being. I told him we’d try to convince Randy to meet with him. Do you think that’ll be possible?”
Brian was the one to groan now. “I don’t know. Randy was still pretty scared and pissed off at me. So, I’m not sure what he’s thinking,”
“Bunny, you can’t blame yourself." I handed Brian the glass and maneuvered myself beside him. He giggled as the tight fit and climbed on my lap. “That’s better,” I said.
“Much better.” He smiled, but it quickly dropped. “Maybe I should’ve told him earlier that I was a shifter. Perhaps he wouldn’t have freaked out so badly. I mean, I’d dated him for six years.”
I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him close. “I understand why you did it. It was a different situation. Ali was his mate and he trusted their connection. Apple and oranges, Bunny.”
“I guess you're right.” He snuggled on my chest.
“At least Randy agreed to stay here,” I said.
Brian scoffed. “Not sure that was the best idea, bringing him to a house full of shifters.”
I laughed. “Well, he thinks we’re rabbits like you and Lucas.”
Brian leaned forward and faced me. “I can’t believe my brother shifted. He’s usually shy in his shifted form.”
“I think that had something to do with Talon. Did you see how they were looking at each other?” I asked.
“Oh my god. So, I’m not the only one to notice.”
I shook my head. “No, Bunny, I noticed too. It was quite evident.” I chuckled. “I think your mom may be getting two predators in the family.”
‘Oh, God. My mom and Olivia already hate you. No offense.”
“None taken.”
“But I think you may be right. Gah.”
I sighed. “Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to talk things through. I never expected crap to happen as things did. I think your Nana may help us out. She may talk some sense into them.”
