He looked down at my lips, his blue eyes deep and intense. I could get lost in those eyes forever and be happy.

“Don’t you?” he murmured.

My nipples hardened and pressed against the thin fabric of my blouse. “Mmm-hmm.” I cleared my throat. “A few pecks on the cheek, though, right? Nothing crazy.”

“Of course not.”

“And nothing more than kisses.” I took a step away and reached for the contract. If I kept staring at him, I’d lose all control. “We have to agree not to sleep together.”

He smiled. “I can agree to that. I’m a professional, after all.”

“Good.”

“And one more thing,” he said. “Let’s not get emotions mixed up in this.”

“What do you mean?”

“How should I put this?” He rubbed his jaw. “We should avoid getting attached to each other. This arrangement has a time limit.”

That stung a little.

“Fine with me.”

He studied me. “Emotions make it complicated. With my daughters involved, I’d rather keep it simple and straightforward.”

I nodded. “I’d prefer that, too.”

“And your dad wouldn’t be happy to hear I was sleeping with his daughter.”

“No, he definitely would not.” I shuddered.

“And obviously, we can’t date anyone else during the three months you’re here.”

“Right,” I said. “We have to keep up appearances.”

“So it’s settled. Three rules. No sex, no falling in love, and no dating anyone else.”

I extended my hand to shake his, displaying confidence I didn’t feel. “It’s a deal.”

Why did it feel so wrong to agree to those first two rules? No sex, and no falling in love.

It probably had something to do with how amazing it felt to touch his hand.

I wanted more from Cooper Pierce. A lot more.

But Cooper clearly didn’t.

Too bad. Get over it, Felicity.

This was a business deal. I was lucky to have his help with Moonstone.

No use wanting some guy who was light years out of my league. Better to get it out of my head completely.

“Oh, one more thing.” He reached into his pocket and retrieved a small velvet box.

Cooper opened it to reveal a gigantic, beautiful diamond ring.

“I’ll need you to wear this.”
