I gasped, breathless at the dominant way he handled me. I wanted nothing more than to submit to this man completely.

Slowly, he thrust his erection against my abdomen.

It was long, thick and hard as steel. Every inch of its length pressed against my soft belly. My panties were instantly drenched.

He moved his hand to my face, brushing his thumb against my cheek. Then he traced my bottom lip with his finger. He moved it to my open mouth and I closed my mouth around it, sucking on it.

He growled, his eyes moving hungrily over my face.

“I want you,” he whispered. “No. I need you. You’re all I can think about.”

He reached down and grabbed my ass, pulling me closer. I whimpered.

Upstairs, a bedroom door made a loud noise as it swung open, followed by the sound of footsteps in the hall that led to the staircase.

Cooper and I both jumped back. He turned away, taking a few steps toward the living room as he adjusted himself.

My hands trembling, I straightened my blouse and my hair. Thank God the girls hadn’t seen us standing like that.

“Daddy!” Eva shouted from upstairs, still out of sight. “Where are you?”

Cooper ran a hand through his hair and glanced at me, then looked away quickly. He drew a deep breath and let it out through his mouth. He’d managed to get rid of the tent in his pants.

“Downstairs,” he called.

The two girls appeared at the top of the staircase. “Lily’s crying,” Eva said.

The girls descended the stairs, and Cooper met them at the landing. Lily was sobbing. Tears streamed down her red face. He picked Lily up and carried her to the living room. Eva, who looked concerned, walked beside me as we followed him.

“It’s okay, Lily,” Cooper soothed. He sat with her on the couch and held her. “Are you hurt?”

Lily sniffed and shook her head. “No. Just sad.”

“Because you’re not going to see Mommy today?” Cooper asked. Eva sat beside him, and I perched on the chair nearby.

Lily nodded. I spotted a box of tissues and handed one to Cooper, who wiped her face clean.

“I’m sorry, baby. I know you wanted to spend time with her today. It’s okay to be sad.”

Lily blew her nose and cuddled against her father. He pulled in Eva, who was tracing the seam on the couch cushion.

“Are you sad, too, Eva?” he asked.

She nodded.

“I’m sorry, girls.” He held them for a long moment.

I felt useless, but I didn’t know how I could help. I hated that Gen did this to these girls.

Why wouldn’t she want to spend time with her precious daughters? What could be more important than them?

I chewed on my lip as I snuck glances at Cooper holding his girls. He was such a good dad. There was no doubt they should stay with him.

This fake engagement was the right thing to do.

After seeing the cold way Gen treated her kids—and hearing her confirm what Cooper had said about the judge—I was totally convinced.

But at the moment, I felt awkward. Maybe I was intruding on this family time.
