I looked in his intense blue eyes, searching for any sign that he wanted more. That he was interested in a serious relationship with me.
He kissed me on the mouth, then pulled away to look at me. “I'm proud of you for doing that interview. I think this will change things for your store.”
I smiled. “Thanks, Cooper. I really hope so.”
His eyes moved over my lips, and his deep voice made my nipples hard. “Want to celebrate later in my room?”
I closed my eyes, already feeling a flood between my legs. “Absolutely,” I whispered.
“Okay! We’re done getting ready!” Eva shouted as they ran down the stairs.
Cooper took a step back and turned away quickly. I shook off the daze that had fallen over me in Cooper's arms. He always had that effect on me.
The girls appeared in the kitchen wearing their pajamas.
“We're in charge of getting the snacks,” Eva announced. “You two go pick out a movie, okay?”
“Since when do you want me to pick out the movie?” Cooper asked.
“Since today,” Eva said confidently. She shooed us away. “Go on.”
Cooper and I followed her orders and went to the living room. As I settled on the couch, he flipped through a kids’ streaming channel. The microwave roared from the kitchen.
Soon, the girls joined us in the living room. Lily carried two plastic kids’ cups and Eva carried a large bowl of popcorn. She set it on the coffee table. “I have to get one more thing!”
Eva ran off to the kitchen, then returned a moment later carrying a bottle of wine and a corkscrew. She concentrated as she walked slowly, careful not to drop it.
Cooper laughed. “You two thought of everything, didn't you? But what are you girls going to drink?”
Eva stretched her arms overhead and faked an exaggerated yawn. She elbowed Lily, who followed suit.
“Boy, I sure am sleepy,” Eva said in a loud voice that didn't at all sound sleepy.
“Yeah. Me too,” Lily agreed.
“We're too tired to watch the movie, Daddy. I think we'll go upstairs and go to bed now.”
Cooper raised an eyebrow. “It's not even your bedtime yet.”
“Yeah, but it's been a long day with the field trip and Lily's art show and everything.”
Cooper smiled. “Okay. Well, do you need me to tuck you in?”
Eva waved him off. “No, we're fine. You two stay here and enjoy your date.”
She gave us a big grin before she led Lily out of the room.
Once we were alone again, Cooper and I looked at each other and burst out laughing.
“That was adorable,” I said. “They planned that all along.”
“I especially enjoyed the fake yawning.” Cooper sat next to me on the couch, and I snuggled against him.
“They never fail to amaze me,” I said. “They really are smart.”
“Sometimes too much for their own good.”
“Will they be okay up there alone?”
