"Yes, I know," I said.

"Well, then why would there be a problem?"

"No, um, no problem!" I said frantically. "I'm just so happy you called. How are you?"

"Fine," he replied. "You?"

"I'm fine," I said back, wishing this conversation felt more natural. I'd been waiting for him to call for ages, I just realized that I was in love with him, and now I had him on the phone and could barely talk to him.

"That's good," he replied.

"When do you think you might be home?" I asked.

He sighed. "I'm not sure. Just keep yourself busy in the meantime," he said.

"Yeah," I replied, realizing that this was the last of my scheduled interviews. "I'll try."

"Sorry, Zoey, but I've got to go," he said quickly.

"Wait!"

"What?"

"When can I talk to you again?" I asked.

"I told you, Zoey. I'm working," he chided.

"Okay," I replied.

"I just really need you to calm down a bit," he said. "Everything is fine. Just focus on yourself for right now."

"Okay," I replied.

The line went dead before I was even able to say anything else. I could feel the tears welling in my eyes, and I sat down on the little sofa. I didn't want to feel this way anymore, but I felt helpless to stop it.

It was like my entire identity had become wrapped up in Axe, and when he wasn't around I didn't want to exist.

A knock on my door had me trying to wipe the tears away from my eyes. "Come in," I said, trying desperately to look like I hadn't just been balling my eyes out.

My agent, Sarah, walked into the room, closing the door behind her. Sarah embodied "woman on the go." She was pretty much always in some sort of workout gear, she had blonde hair which she kept cropped short, and was always carrying some sort of energy drink mix.

"Why on Earth are you crying?" she asked me, coming over to where I was sitting.

"Oh, it's nothing," I said.

She rolled her eyes at me. "We don't have time for tears. I have amazing news for you."

"Oh?" I replied.

"The network just called. They're renewing the show for a second season!"

"That's great," I said, trying to sound excited. "Who did they find to direct?" I asked. Matt still hadn't shown up.

"Doesn't matter," Sarah said. "Because I have even better news."

"Okay," I said, waiting patiently.

"Seems you attracted the attention of the right people because an offer for a movie deal just landed on my desk."
