EPILOGUE

“Where are we going, Logan?” I crane my head to see past him when he turns right on Shore Road instead of left to his parents’ house. “Your mom isn’t going to be happy if we’re late to New Year’s Eve dinner.”

“She’ll be okay.”

“Your brothers are going to think you couldn’t keep your hands off me, which is why we’re late.”

Logan’s lip quirks and he gives me a quick side glance and a wink. “We can make that a reality.”

“Seriously? Now? We could’ve had a quickie back at my condo and I would have been able to fix my hair.”

“I wasn’t planning on a quickie but now you have me adding that to the plan.”

“What plan? The spinach artichoke dip is going to get cold in the back seat.”

“My mom has an oven. It heats up stuff. Stop your worrying.” He picks up my hand and brings it to his lips. “One quick stop before the party.”

I grumble. “It’s your family that’s going to give you hell. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” We drive by elaborate beach houses worth more than I’ll ever make in a lifetime, especially working at the bank.

Logan has more than hinted about me coming back to work at LP Financials. I will, eventually. First, I want him to get his company up and running without me. Then, if there’s still a place for me, I’ll apply.

The houses thin and start to get a little smaller in size compared to the Pierce’s mansion. Still, the oceanfront properties are gorgeous. Logan comes to a stop at a dead end and turns off the car.

A black Lexus sits in the driveway. “Are you meeting someone?”

“We are. Come on.”

He meets me at my side of the door and takes my hand in his. The door opens before he has a chance to knock. A beautiful blonde who may be in her forties but thanks to Botox, fillers, and an amazing hair stylist, can easily pass for mid-twenties, greets us.

“Mr. Pierce. Please come in.”

“Greenly, this is Reese.”

“Lovely to meet you,” Greenly says.

She doesn’t snub her nose down on me, but I still don’t care for her. She seems too acquainted with Logan.
