Luca runs a hand down his face. “I will bandage what I can but you are going to have to, Payson.”

It’s been years since I’ve walked around in short sleeves. Even bandages won’t hide all of them. But he’s right. I have no other choice.

My head is foggy as I round the corner for the bathrooms, that’s the only explanation as to why Ash is with his back to me and a blonde ponytail in front of him. My heart stops altogether. He couldn’t be that upset I was playing with guys. There’s no way he would cheat on me, especially not wit—

“This is the last warning I will give, Alyssa. Go. Away.”

Alyssa. Of course, it’s Alyssa. It’s always fucking Alyssa.

“Remember how much fun we had?”

Ash’s shoulders tense and he clenches his fist. “No. I don’t. If you don’t recall, I was drunk.”

“Well, I wasn’t, and we did. You loved the way I fucked you.” Her pale hand wraps around his elbow but it doesn’t stay there long. Ash grabs it before I get the chance, but I’m shoving her away from him before he can do anything else. She slams into the wall.

“Payson,” Ash says with a passive tone, but I ignore him.

“Why are you even here?”

She adjusts her boobs and that’s when I see what she’s wearing. She’s not dressed to play, she’s wearing the same pink shirt as the rest of us but her neckline is cut and the bottom is cut making it a crop top that shows off her expensive breasts.

“My daddy happened to have some work to do here and let me tag along. Fun fact! I went to a volleyball convention this summer, you know, when you were under house arrest? Yeah, well I went and guess who was the head coach?”

I don’t even have to guess to know because my luck is just that amazing. “Valerie.”

“Yep,” she cheers. “And when I told her how my coach was favoring another girl because they were sleeping together”—my stomach drops—“she told me to come, and she would talk to some scouts in my favor.”

“You told on us? Are you five?”

She steps closer and because of her height she towers over me, but I don’t let it bother me. “I didn’t say who. Just that Ash was fucking one of the girls.” She regards Ash still standing behind me, silent. “He told all on his own by kissing your ass like he always does.”

“He doesn’t just kiss it,” I mutter.

“You’re disgusting.” She scoffs.

“Yeah? Disgusting like fucking two different boyfriends of the same person?”

“I’m slutty. Not disgusting.”

There’s something to be said about her being self-aware. Doesn’t make me hate her any less. “Why can you not just let him go? How many times does he have to say he’s not interested in you? You fucked a couple times, and? We tripled that by now.”

“Did he get you pregnant?”

I freeze.

“Then make you abort it because he didn’t want the responsibility?”

Maybe if I wasn’t high on painkillers that weren’t mine or there wasn’t blood dripping down my arm, I might have a bigger reaction. Or maybe not.

“The difference is—” I step toward her, not caring that she’s crying. Cry harder, bitch. “If Ash gets me pregnant, he won’t make me terminate it because he actually wants to have a baby with me.” I turn and stride into the bathroom without listening to whatever reply she might come back with.

My arms are mostly clean when Ash opens the door.

“Are you alone?”

I nod and he walks the rest of the way in and locks the door behind him. I should mention this is the main bathroom besides the locker rooms, but I don’t. I watch the last of the pink water turn clear.

“We need to talk about what she said.”
