And it only gets better the closer I get to my wife.
I come to a stop at the top of the stairs and stare down the hallway. I know that JD’s room is opposite the one they put me in, and that Reid’s is right at the end. But which has she chosen to slip into?
Yesterday, she escaped to Reid’s bathroom. But after what just went down, something tells me that his space will be the last place she wants to be.
I move closer, and the second I notice that my room is the only one with the door cracked open, I get my answer.
With the bowl of salt water in my hand, I make my way through the bedroom and toward the bathroom door, which is also open in invitation.
I knock because it’s polite, not because I want to. I don’t want to give her any chance to turn me away to tell me that she regrets what happened downstairs. JD’s presence aside, it was the best thing that’s happened to me in years.
Fuck. The sight of her wide, glassy eyes staring up at me as she took my dick…
“Doll?” I rasp, pushing the door wider.
I find her with a towel wrapped around her body, another twisting up her hair as she stands at the mirror.
The second she sees me in the reflection, her entire face lights up.
“Hey,” she says, spinning around to look at me. Her eyes drop down the length of my body, lingering on my crotch long enough to acknowledge just how much she affects me before she finally finds my eyes again. “You okay?”
Stepping closer, I abandon the bowl on the counter and wrap my hand around the side of her neck instead.
“Yeah, Doll. I’m really fucking good.” I hold still, letting her search my eyes so that she can see how sincere I’m being.
She lets out a long breath of relief, her shoulders relaxing.
My thumb traces her jaw, and she shudders.
“You’re incredible. Do you know that?” I murmur, pressing my head to hers.
“Uh… you did just watch me suck JD off, right?” she asks with a humorless laugh.
“It was a bit blurry,” I confess. “This mouth.” My thumb traces across the fullness of her bottom lip, before dragging it down. “For years I’ve been thinking about this, about how you’d feel.”
“Yeah?” she asks, her eyes darkening with every word that rolls off my tongue.
“It’s better than I ever could have imagined. Fucking perfect.”
She swallows roughly, her tendons pulling taut beneath my palm.
“I thought you were going to freak out.”
“Still might,” I confess. “This… none of this was what I was expecting, Doll. You’ve taken me completely off guard. But that downstairs… fuck, babe.”
“I know,” she agrees, her small hand wrapping around my forearm as she leans closer.
Her fresh from the shower scent wraps around me, luring me in.
“I’m going to give you everything you deserve, Doll, and more,” I promise, my eyes closing as the heat of her lips burn mine.
Our kiss isn’t like the ones we shared downstairs. It isn’t frantic and desperate but gentle, loving, and it holds just as much promise.
“I’m an idiot,” I confess when we finally break apart, our chests heaving.
She giggles. The sound is so light and free, it makes something flutter in my chest. “I’ve always known that, Mav.” She takes a step back from me, severing our connection. “You could have had this the whole time.”
She tugs the towel from her body, letting it float to the floor and pool at her feet—not that I spare it a second glance. How could I when she’s standing before me looking like that?
