I tried not to make a big deal about it because I already felt better, and chances were that it was just the flu. But eventually, I couldn't stand not knowing anymore. I opened the stick and waited, stopping myself from opening my eyes.

These kinds of things I preferred to do alone, so eventually, I opened my eyes to look at the results I found...

When I walked into the conference room the very next morning and saw only my sister seated and waiting, I didn't know what to say.

."Where's Lena?" Matthias asked by my side, and my sister shrugged.

"That's not important. We have a decision to make and a lot of work to do," she replied. I ignored her, and just as I was about to send my secretary to her office to find out why she wasn't present, my secretary came in.

"She called in sick, Sir," he said, his phone in hand. She thought she would be able to make it, but she couldn't. She apologized.

At his words, I was immediately concerned, but I couldn't show it. After he exited, I looked at Kate and her lawyer and decided that there was no point in proceeding with this meeting when only half of the partners were currently present.

"Let's postpone this meeting," I told her. "We have very crucial matters to decide upon, and I think it's best that we do these when she's also present."

"No," my sister replied. "She could have called in way ahead of time if she wanted to make it. No one gets sick ten minutes before a meeting."

"We can't have this meeting without her, and Dylan isn't here.”

"This is exactly why this meeting is necessary.”

I stared at her. There was a lot to process, but I knew her well enough to understand her demeanor when she is certain that she has won a war.

"You called for this meeting," I told her. " I'm assuming the reason is related to Dylan’s equity."

"How sharp," she replied. "Yes, it is, among other things, but I do believe that it's the most important, so I'd like to officially announce it and immediately exercise my right."

"What right?" I asked, and she smiled.

"Starting from today, you are automatically suspended from being CEO."

My brows raised at her words, while Matthias turned to her in surprise.

"On what grounds?" I asked.

"You can't do that without any grounds."

"Oh, I'm prepared," she said, "And I think mine are pretty valid."

"What are they?" I asked, and she smiled and continued.

"During the last meeting we had, the agreement we came to was that the expansion of the science division wouldn't be pushed forward. However, you blatantly went ahead with it to appease her, and this cannot be accepted."

At her words, I sighed and fully turned to address her.

"Kate, rejecting that expansion had nothing to do with the merits of it being beneficial to the company."

"Doesn't matter," she said. "You suspended her brother for being late to a meeting, which, the last time I checked, doesn't directly benefit the company in any way. So, when the same is about to be applied to your suggestion, I think it makes no sense."

"Unacceptable."

I stared at her, and she went on.

"I'll take over the operations of the company from this morning. My assistant will be in your office before we get there so that you can hand over all the related files."
