“Pleased with yourself?” I ask.

She nods, then helps me stand and finish undressing. We make our way to the bedroom where we lay down together, legs tangled and hands roaming freely.

Charlotte’s pattern of rushing head-on continues as she grips my cock again, stroking it gently. I harden again easily in her soft hands. Regardless, I take my time. Kissing her lips, stroking her hair, nipping at her throat, until she’s once again begging for me.

“Mason, if I don’t have you inside of me right now I’m going to explode,” she says like a threat.

I chuckle and give her a gentlemanly kiss on the top of her hand. “As you wish.”

Charlotte rolls onto her back, allowing me to straddle her. She eagerly kicks her legs over my hips, inviting me in. I lower my body over hers and kiss her. Gently, slowly, I push myself inside her soft warmth with ease. I hold myself there to let her body adjust. But still, she squirms.

“Mason,” she says. Her voice is quieter, less urgent.

I cup my hand on her cheek and lose myself in those gorgeous amber eyes. “Yes, darling?”

Charlotte melts into my touch and sighs. “I love you, Mason.”

And now it’s my turn to melt. I dip my head down and kiss her as I move gently in and out, taking my time, building pressure and friction.

“I love you so much,” I whisper in her ear. Charlotte gasps as I pick up my pace. She lifts her hips to match it. I relish in her moans, her little sighs, the way she calls my name like a chant to the heavens.

If everything before now was building to this very moment, it was more than worth it. I would go through it all a hundred times more just to see her writhing in pleasure below me like this.

Charlotte’s fingernails dig into my back, forcing me closer to her until we’re moving together as one. She squeezes her eyes closed, and her mouth hangs open in a silent scream. I feel her coming again, and the sensation is too much to hold back any longer as I quickly follow her.

We lay there together, a tangle of limbs and sweat-covered sheets. I feel her warm breath slow against my neck. Her hands loosen their grip on me. They fall to the mattress while she sighs in complete relaxation.

I lay on my side, simply looking at her. There’s so much I want to say. So many little promises, observations of her beauty, and hopes for our future. I want to confess my undying love.

Instead, we simply lay together quietly. Her body presses against mine, completely at ease in my arms. Our breaths even out, chests rising and falling slowly. She strings her fingers through mine and sighs.

And in this moment, it feels like nothing else needs to be said.

CHARLOTTE

The warm sun on my back feels good after weeks of being stuck behind a computer and as much as I’ve grown to adore Curiosity, the hum of cicadas and the singing of birds is a nice change from the sounds of a bustling town.

“This is stunning,” I tell Mason as we make our way up the mountain path that overlooks the town. “I can’t believe I’ve never been up here before.”

Mason turns to me, smiling. “Well, you were very busy trying to destroy my career for a while,” he jokes. “That didn’t leave much time for hiking, I guess.”

I give him a smirk, but secretly I’m happy that with a few months’ distance, we can joke about that part of our relationship.

“Maybe I was just trying to destroy your career so you’d have more time for hiking,” I reply. “So you’re welcome.”

We both laugh, leaning into each other as we make our way up the path hand-in-hand.

“I’m glad I could take some time off to bring you up here,” he says now, seriously. “I’ve been wanting to show you this spot for a while, but Pickle Fest just made that impossible until now.”

I grin, grateful in some ways that this year’s festival is over, much as I enjoyed it. Mason has had plenty more time on his hands since then, and he’s taken me to all his favorite places around Curiosity and beyond, each date giving me more and more insight into this remarkable man.

He brought me to the roof of the town hall for a romantic picnic, then to his favorite restaurant, the Stinking Clam which, thankfully, also served food fit for a human. He even took me ballroom dancing at the local haunted house which, I had to admit, was a lot more fun than it sounded.

These outings have also helped me integrate more into Curiosity’s community, which was sorely needed after my vendetta against Mason. With my coverage of the mayoral office drastically improving, and Mason’s obvious care for me, the citizens of Curiosity have embraced me warmly again. Something I certainly don’t deserve but am deeply grateful for.

Pickle Fest itself helped a lot with that, too. After it became obvious that the allegations of financial corruption were entirely false, I was able to dedicate myself to covering the event properly, and I had the chance to interview many of the vendors involved.
