“You may both kiss.”
Sergey took a step forward, and I almost paced backward but forced myself to remain still. The scent of his cologne was the first to reach me. When he finally came close enough for our bodies to press against each other, he slid a finger around my waist, and all I wanted to do was to melt in his arms.
He leaned in to kiss me, and I closed my eyes, ready to savor the addictive taste of his lips once again. He didn’t kiss me, though. Instead, he whispered a threat, a warning. A claim of ownership into my ear that took my breath away.
“You’re mine from this moment onward, moy tsvetok.”His breath teased my ear, and my whole body tensed in response. “I own everything that concerns you. Your tears, your soul, and your body.”
Chapter 14 - Lilianna
I own it all: your tears, your soul, and your body.
Sergey’s words hadn’t left my head for a second since our wedding ceremony had ended over an hour ago. He’d made it as clear as crystal that he owned me now as if I was a piece of furniture.
I should’ve been disgusted by the idea that he thought he owned me, but why did I find it attractive? Why did I keep replaying the huskiness and deepness of his voice in my head?
And more importantly, why was I smiling and blushing like an idiot thinking of him? I huffed and sat on the recliner. As I watched the overview of the city from here, I couldn’t help but ponder what my wedding night with Sergey was supposed to be like.
People liked to pretend wedding nights were like a fairytale filled with smothering and hot sex, but it wasn’t anything like that. One of my cousins briefed me on how exhausting wedding nights were and how she couldn’t bear to look at her husband after the ceremony.
Apparently, they’d both slept off as soon as they went back to their hotel rooms and didn’t have sex until two days after.
It was different for Sergey and me, though, since we didn’t spend months planning for our wedding. He’d gone off to see his brothers shortly after we exchanged our vows while I retired to my room. We hadn’t spoken to each other, and I had no idea what to expect.
Were we supposed to consummate our marriage? Did he expect me to perform any wifely duties? I was frustrated not knowing my left or right. If he forced me into marrying him, then he should have had the decency to brief me on his expectations from this marriage.
I wondered if he was going to be a jerk and abandon his new bride on our wedding night. Why did I hate the idea of being abandoned? I sounded as if I was expecting him to have sex with me tonight. If he did, I wasn’t going to fight him off or try to resist, he was my husband, and it couldn’t be helped.
Besides, I didn’t think getting married to Sergey was completely a bad idea. I could try to gain his trust while I planned my escape. If I played my cards well, he wouldn’t suspect a thing.
Someone knocked on the door, and I whirled towards it. I knew for a fact that it wasn’t Sergey. He wasn’t a gentleman and would rather barge in than request my permission to come in. None of his brothers had ever come up here, and I doubted any of them would now. The only person that could be standing out there was Marina.
I yelled for her to come in, and when she did, she was carrying a box of pizza and cans of soda. My stomach rumbled loudly at the smell of pizza. I’d been so hungry.
“You still haven’t told me what you like to eat.” She kept the food on the vanity table at the other side of the room. “—most people like pizza, so I ordered some for you.”
I smiled at her, my first genuine smile since I came in here this morning. “Thank you.”
She nodded and was about to leave when I called out for her. “Do you have something I can change into after a shower? I didn’t come with any clothes.”
“There aren’t any, but I can take a trip to the shopping mall nearby and get you some clothes.”
“I’d like that. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” The corners of her lips lifted as she smiled, then she left the room.
I finished the whole box of pizza minutes later and went into the bathroom for a shower. I stared at my reflection in the black, oval mirror on the bathroom wall. My fair skin was unusually pale, my eyes had dark circles, and my hair was messy.
It had been a crazy day.
First, I got kidnapped, and then I got married. Things like that didn’t happen every day, and I was convinced I must have done something unspectacular in my previous life to have ended up in a situation as twisted as this.
I filled the bathtub with warm water. Fortunately, there were varieties of bath bubbles. I used the one with the lavender scent. Satisfied with my bubble bath, I slid into the bathtub and allowed myself to soak for nearly an hour to relieve all the stress from today.
When I got out of the bathtub, I rinsed my body, grabbed a towel, and wrapped it around my body. That felt so good.
As I walked into the bedroom, I nearly jumped out of my skin at the tall figure sitting on my bed in the dark. I hurried to find the switch, and when I turned the light on, my eyes met with Sergey’s.
I held my chest, breathing heavily with relief. I’d thought it was someone else. “What are you doing here? You scared me.”
