“I’ll call him now,” I reply, pulling out my phone and dialing. He picks up on the first ring, “Hey, D.”

“Hey, Kid, how’re you? Everything okay?” he asks, sounding concerned.

I smile, “Everything is fine. Well, as fine as it usually is, life-threatening problems and all that, the usual, I’m actually ringing to cash in a favor.”

D instantly becomes serious, knowing that I don’t cash in favors unless I really have to. I like gathering them in case I ever need them instead.

“Alright, Jynx, I’m listening. What do you need?”

“I have a person that I need to extract, and he needs to be put in a high-security prison, never to see that light of day, as it were, and I was wondering if Alaric could pull some strings. I can send you a message with all the things he’s done, although, of course, there’s not much proof.”

D’s silent for a moment before he replies, “I’ll ask him and get back to you as soon as I can. I’m assuming that this is fairly time sensitive.”

“Yeah, it is. Thanks, D, I appreciate it.”

“Anything for you, Kid. Speak soon,” he replies and then promptly hangs up.

When I hang up, I’m smiling. I always like talking to D, and it’s been far too long since I saw my favorite uncle; I mean, technically, he’s my only uncle, but the sentiment still stands.

“What did he say?” Rome asks.

“He’s going to call Alaric and see what he can do,” I reply and then frown, “If Alaric’s on a job, then it might be a while before he can take Daniel.”

Malachi frowns, “And if that’s the case, we still need to make sure that we sort the Daniel situation out soon. We can’t risk him deciding to go on the defensive and innocent people getting caught in the crosshairs.”

“We’ll see what D comes back with, and if Alaric can't get to him for a while, then we’re going to have to find somewhere secure to keep him, where he can’t cause any trouble or harm.” Rip replies.

“My house,” Rome suddenly says, “think about it. The grandparents were locked in the basement for years; we know it's secure, we know they aren’t going to mind, and we also know that they won’t mind if he’s kept down there because it's one step closer to this being over and the town being safe again.”

“That’s a good idea,” Mase starts and then adds, “although I think that the basement is too nice for him.”

“Agreed, but it won’t be a permanent solution, and we could always cut the power off down there so he’s left in complete darkness,” I suggest, aware that my lips have kicked up into a vengeful smile.

“You’re diabolical,” Mason grins.

“I know. But in all fairness as far as I’m concerned, he deserves torture for what he put you through, and if I can’t personally inflict it how I would like to, then I’m going to settle on plunging him into complete darkness, for a few days and messing with his senses instead.” I reply.

“Fucking genius,” Rip compliments me and then promptly kisses me.

“You know I love it when you guys kiss me when I’m being bloodthirsty,” I admit when he finally pulls back.

“Just like we love it when you're bloodthirsty,” Rome replies this time, watching me in Rip’s arms, with his eyes heated.

“Alright, well there’s not much we can do now. Let’s go and see what my grandmother is up to and fill her in,” I reply as we leave the security room.

We find her in the kitchen, placing something in the fridge.

“Hey kids,” she greets us happily, “how did it go? Do you have a plan?”

“We’ve got the beginnings of one,” Rome replies.

“We’re just waiting for my contact to get back to me to let us know if he can take Daniel and when,” I explain.

“There’s no point in us extracting him and then having to put him somewhere for a few days while we wait for him to be picked up,” Malachi adds.

“No, there isn’t. I do worry about how much damage he could cause if he decides to stop hiding like a coward.” Demelza replies, having finally stopped putting things into the fridge.

I nod, “We thought of that. That’s why if it turns out that it's going to take longer than we anticipated to get my contact here to handle the extraction, we’ll take him out anyway, and store him in the basement at Rome’s place, where all the other grandparents were kept,” I reply.
