“We could still make a list with a couple of recipes that we’d like to try and pick up the stuff at some point tomorrow?” Mason suggests and then adds with a shrug, “I’d really like to do it now.”

“Yeah, me too,” I add. “I’ll come with you.”

“How about everyone picks one recipe that they want to try to make, and then we’ll get the ingredients for it?” Rome suggests.

“Good idea.” Mase and Mal agree together, sharing a smile.

It’s not long before we all have our recipes chosen and our ingredients written down. Of course, Ace had to be a little bit different, and he decided to make cupcakes instead. I’m not complaining in the slightest, so long as he can actually pull it off.

After we’ve eaten takeout, everybody disperses to their own rooms, all looking forward to sleeping in their beds and being surrounded by their stuff. I’m the last one to go up as I grab some drinks because I think my little kitchen in my room is getting low. As I make my way up the stairs that I used to curse, I can’t help but think about how different our lives are now compared to just over a week ago when we were last here.

So much has changed. We’ve gained family, family that we thought was dead, and a place to go should we ever need it; that’s quite a big thing for all of us. I will forever be grateful that I get to know my grandmother and my grandfather, for that matter, although I do think that it was an oversight on my part that I didn’t ask any questions about my grandfather, I just assumed he was dead since I got given the house and I was so focused on my grandmother and anything that I could find out about my father that I completely overlooked anything to do with my grandfather. Not that asking would’ve done me any good anyway.

I’m pulled out of my thoughts as I walk past Ace’s room and pause briefly as I hear I’m arguing with Murphy.

“Come on, Murph. It wasn’t safe to bring you, and you know that. Just let me get into bed, I’ve missed my bed, and I’m damn tired.”

When I hear Murphy growl in response, I decide to leave them to it because I think that the argument is going to last for a while, and my bed, or more importantly, my bathroom, is calling to me.

As soon as I step foot in my bedroom, a huge smile stretches across my face; it really is good to be home. After I place my sodas in my fridge, I move across the room to my closet and start rummaging around for my comfiest pair of pyjamas; because I have missed wearing PJs, it wasn’t something that I pack in my go bag because on jobs, it's better to remain fully dressed and armed, even if you manage to get a few minutes of sleep in.

I then make my way into my bathroom and sigh happily as I look out onto my balcony; it’s been far too long since I’ve sat out there and just enjoyed the peace. After I’ve showered and pulled on my PJs, I go back into my room to grab some fluffy socks and a hoody before I make myself a hot chocolate, glad that I’ve got some left, and then take it out onto the balcony and curl up on one of my squishy couches, flicking on the twinkle lights and looking over the backyard and the woods beyond and feeling incredibly blessed and peaceful.

**********

Last night I ended up falling asleep outside and waking up damn cold, staggering into my room and curling up in bed to get warm again. I didn’t get to sleep in as long as I would’ve liked this morning; my alarm waking me up so that we can head over to the Conspiracy’s place so that we can check out the cameras. I decide to stay in my pjs and fluffy socks until the last possible minute, and I head downstairs to find food and coffee.

I missed having one of the guys with me last night, but at the same time, it was really nice just to sleep in my own bed by myself, although I don’t want to do it that often.

“Morning, guys,” I greet the others, seeing that they’re all up but looking incredibly sleepy, which is just cute as hell.

“Morning, Blue,” Ace replies with a yawn. “Coffee is over there, but the only thing we have for breakfast is toast.”

“I’m good with that. Coffee is the most important thing anyway,” I reply with a smile as I make myself a cup before putting some bread in the toaster.

“Gerald texted me and told me that the food order should be here in an hour or so,” Rome tells me. “As soon as we’re done with breakfast, we’ll head over to Harley and the guy's place and check the cameras to make sure that he’s not been there.”

“My laptop finished the search on him,” Ace tells us, his face grim.

“Great, any surprises?” I ask.

Ace shakes his head, “No, Harley was right; he’s small-time but fucking dangerous, he definitely needs to be taken out, and I’m surprised that he hasn’t been already. It’s not just Harley that he’s stalked and threatened, although she does seem to be his favorite.”

“Just like Harley said then,” Rip replies.

“Yeah, it seems like it.”

“Do we know where he’s staying?” Mason asks.

Nodding, Ace replies, “Yeah, he’s staying in a pay by the hour hotel across town from where the Conspiracy lives.”

“Okay, so I suggest that we go and check out the cameras to see if we can find anything, and then I’ll go and stake out the place where he’s staying, and we’ll see what we can find out if he comes back I’ll take him out,” I suggest.

Chapter Twenty-Five

Rome nods, but then frowns slightly, “Okay, I agree with all of that, but I would prefer that you take Rip and Ace with you when you go and check out his place, just to be safe.”

I tilt my head, “Yeah, I can do that. I’m just so used to having to do these sorts of jobs by myself that it hadn’t occurred to me to get anyone to come with me.”
